So early tomorrow I am driving back home from Illinois. I will be taking 94 through North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, then Washington. Taking our time and spanning the nice 26 hour drive across three days. Planning on stopping somewhere around Bismarck the first night and then Missoula the second night....Anyone know of any B&Ms out that way to stop at?

Maybe suggestions of musts to see like the worlds largest ball of twine?

Modo,

Lordlister may be a resource for the Missoula stop. I suggest dropping him a PM.

Jim

I did this drive twice in the last two years, Ca to MD. The first time it was when I got out of the military and drove back solo. I did it in 40 hours, 32 hours driving I believe. I slept 8 hours and only stopped for an hour in oklahoma to check out an indian store, chinese buffet, etc. I did it in 32 hours with my fiance, the second time. Its much easier with a second driver, I drove mostly but when I got tired or wanted sleep she took over. The first trip I went from Barstow, Ca to Missouri with no rest at all, it was smoking newports, redbull, coffee and music. I wouldn't recommend it because I was working 12 hr nights and partying alot, so I was a bit of an insomniac.

x2! That is exactly how it went down. When I got tired she took over. 31 hours straight was the best way to do it. But you need to make sure you have a day off the next day; which we do thank god! The worst part of the trip is when I gave he the wheel at night we were coming into Montana; well I woke up to find ourselves on some nasty tiny back roads??? The GPS took us the US-12, 8 hour, deer infested, back road route........instead of the I-90/94 6 hour, interstate, 75 mph, open road route? But we were too far into it to turn around...needless to say I could not sleep DEER! I swear I saw a deer bigger than our car! These were not our normal Wisconsin deer, these bastards were huge!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Lordlister, drove through Helena...Holy casinos!!!

Sounds like quite an adventure! I would have loved to have met up with you here, but I've been tied up at work lateley. It seems like everyone in town owns a casino.

Its funny how I run it to these huge deers when you are driving around in your car, but the two times I went hunting we only saw crazy small baby deer.

I can honestly say I saw over 100 deer! Growing up in the Northern IL, Wisconsin area you would only see packs of 2-3 deer when driving...but each group we saw, there were packs of 10-12. I wish I had a gun at that point, but would have needed a nice size truck to move them!
