Its a hard lesson to learn. My husky has eaten her fair share of cigars. Everything from mixed box of Opus X and Anejo's when I left them in the car with her for an hour to opening a package that had some more difficult cigars to replace. Needless to say dog's don't always remember things when they only do them once. It takes reinforcement for them to retain the information and some times they just do it out of spit because you left them alone.
My humidors are know either cabinets which are locked or in a room that the dogs are not allowed in and the door on them remain closed to attempt to avoid this happening ever again to me.
Hope the cigars weren't to valuable and glad to hear the pup is doing better.
