To All Cigar Enthusiasts:
As of today, 162 sponsors and co-sponsors in the US House of Representatives and 7 members of the US Senate have said "yes" to H.R. 1639 and S. 1461. There are now co-sponsors on H.R. 1639 from 34 states. More will be announced in the coming week.
In the last week, we jointly launched with the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association a formal petition to The White House, asking that the FDA not regulate premium cigars. Obtaining 25,000 petitions will compel an Obama Administration response, and further establish premium cigar consumers and the industry as a true "political constituency."
As of this moment, we have 11,800 so we would ask that you circulate the link http://wh.gov/Qtz among your staff, friends and related networks. Sign this petition and tell the FDA to leave our premium cigars alone.
We MUST obtain the 25,000 by May 11.
This week, Cigar Aficionado provided an outstanding editorial endorsement of Cigar Rights of America stating, "For years, we have urged the creation of a consumer, grassroots organization to argue the cigar smoker's case. That day is here. The organization has been working hard to create a national infrastructure and present a unified voice against the anti-cigar forces. CRA is providing you, the cigar smoker, with the means to make yourself heard." We would like to sincerely thank Marvin and Gordon for those words of support to their national audience.
We would like to thank all of our media partners for 'spreading the word' on the Congressional and White House petitions, and the virtue of joining CRA.
A network is being established in Washington, DC that will pay dividends for the cigar industry for many political battles to come, and now is the time to unify and advance this work.
Cigar Rights of America has established an aggressive strategy that involves retaining numerous lobbying specialists to advance this legislation. In addition, we are working in partnership with allied industry groups, and building new coalitions with pro-business, anti-regulatory parties that can assist this cause, all while addressing dozens of state and local cigar political issues.
Join in the Fight http://wh.gov/Qtz
Sincerely,

Ther are nearly 12,000 members of CP and if everyone signes then the petition is half done, then the powers that be will have to take notice.
