CP's "Cigars 101" Newbie pass 3

Mary Ann is staying with me, Sparky! You can have Ginger!

Lemme check out the T/P's and I'll let you know.

Mary Ann is staying with me, Sparky! You can have Ginger!

If only that were true, I'd be happier than the day the box arrives at my house.

No worries on the checking t/p stuff. Tomorrow is Sunday, which means it won't show up anyway.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris,
Most of your T/P's look good. The only one I take exception with is the last, "T: #53 Opus X Double Corona .................. P: #59 Davidoff Special <<T>> (6x52)". The price on the Davidoff is about $16.57, the Opus X $15, but it is pretty difficult to find at this point.

I see. I didn't figure it to be so rare because the last time I was in my B&M, they had a box of them. I will run over to the B&M today and see if I can scare anything up. If not, I'll just have to pass on the Opus (which makes me grumpy). But I get grumpy when the professor doesn't see things my way, so all is normal.

Cheers!

What? PM sent. :D I can't find'em anywhere around here for less than $30. And where the heck can I find one of these B&M's that has Opus and Anejos just lying around until the middle of February? Every single B&M in my area sells out of all Anejos and Opus within a week of them coming in.... Opus generally within 5 days.

Well, the ol' B&M was fresh out of the Opus X Double Coronas. But they had a nice Fuente sampler box (I skipped on). They also had half a box of Power Rangers and half a box of Anejo 48's. So I picked up 2 for myself and 3 for amateur. There were a few left. If anyone really wanted some, I'm sure I could pick some more up.

Now, about that trade, there are two options that I'd like to propose for the Opus X Double Corona.

P: 59.1 - A. Fuente Anejo 48
-or-
P: 59.2 - San Martin Pyramid (6x52)

I figure both score for the rarity, but the Anejo is more on the same price point as the Opus (from what I can tell).

So, prof, let me know if either of these are suitable substitutes as a trade for the Opus X Double Corona. If not, I'll smoke 'em both and let the next person have a whack at taking that one.

Cheers,
Chris

Neither of those trades will work either. As far as the rarity factor, you're right with the anejo, but you're way off base as far as MSRP goes so the rarity can't make up the difference. I've never heard of the San Martin so you'll have to give a little info on that one. As far as your B&M carrying Opus, you're lucky to still see them.

I guess I'll disregard this trade then. What a bummer.

Anyway, about the San Martin, it is a Peruvian Puro.

The only store I've been able to find them on line is this one (click here). The Pyramids come in a gorgeous box, which can be seen at the website.

I don't have a whole lot of information about them. The proprietor of my B&M is always looking for unique stuff, and this is the latest one he's found. He told me that they make pretty low numbers of sticks every year, but that might be because demand is low.

Since I'll be keeping this stick, I'll give it a smoke this weekend and try to let everyone know how it is.

The cigar list has been updated. Let us know when the package arrives, Chris!

Thanks again Chris.... great gesture and much appreciated. Just FYI, here's the msrp linky for Fuente products.

Bimmer,

Pm me and I will make sure you have a double corona. I have several and have no problem letting one go to a brother.

Nice play Step.... smooth.

Khari, just want to make sure I'm up to speed. Chris is going to send the pass back to nicmert and then Steve will send it to me, right?

As long as Nicmert is available, then yes. If not, it goes to you.

Gotcha. This must be how the back-up quarterback feels during the game.

As I tuck my head between my legs and cower like a whining dog, I am yet again amazed at the sense of brotherhood on this board.

PM was sent. This will be a fun little side trade, I think.

The box arrived today. However, I just got home from work and the weather outside is at least 50 degrees lower than it is inside. So I will let the box sit closed for one day to slowly acclimate the sticks inside.

I will open tomorrow night and ship out Thursday if Nicmert is ready. I'll send him a PM also.

And since there's lots of back & forth with my p's & t's (and a last minute change from Stepthirteen), I'll re-post my official P/Ts.

T: #26 Perdomo Lot 23 ........................... P: #55 Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8 (6x47)
T: #12 Don Pepin Black Label Perlan 1952 P: #56 La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 5 Natural (5.5x54)
T: #37 Romeo y Julieta Vintage 1 .............. P: #57 Rocky Patel Edge Lite (6x52)
T: #49 Padron 4000 .................................. P: #58 Don Pepin Blue Label Generosos (6x50)
T: #05 AVO 7-8-7 .................................... P: #59 Davidoff No. 2 (6x38)
T: #31 Tatuaje Series P P2 ............................ P: #60 Padilla Miami 8/11 (5.5x42)
P: #61 Don Pepin Black Label Cuban Classic 1979 (5x50)

So it's up to Nicmert (or maybe gta) now. I hope I can wait to open the box. The excitement is killing me.
