CP OUTTAKES
TheBeast goes head to head with the gun slinging, fowl hunting, cigar smoking general himself, Allofus123 .
"There comes a time when you realize that its not really about the cigars...when you get that, you've got life whipped."
TheBeast:
How long have you been involved in cigar boards?
Allofus123:
Not long at all.... Probably about a year or so.
TheBeast:
What other boards are you a member of?
Allofus123:
Cigar Family...I think Cigar Weekly...I signed up there a while back but I don't post there. Oh yeah, CA also.....I just never go to those anymore.
TheBeast:
If you don't post there, then you're not really a member, are you? LOL.
Allofus123:
You can say that. I have found that you can find out a lot about people watching how they act on different boards. Lurking has its advantages if you know what I mean.
TheBeast:
So I take it, you have confirmed that "I am" actually a smart ass?
Allofus123:
Smart ass? Naw, I think you like to pull the chain as much as myself. there's a big difference between a smart ass and a prankster.
TheBeast:
That's true. So I take it you're not only a cigar smoker, but a hunter? Tell me about that?
Allofus123:
Well, I'm a bit of a fanatic water fowler. I love playing in the mud. I own several dogs that I like to work with. It’s quite something to be out in the marsh at sunrise watching the world wake up.
TheBeast:
What was your first hunting experience like?
Allofus123:
My first experience was deer hunting. I was invited to a ranch in West Texas for 4 days. I was allowed to shoot 2 does and 2 bucks (one spike and one 8 point or larger) plus all the varmits I wanted, if I had the opportunity. It was a bit embarrassing since I filled all my tags on that hunt. Have the 10 point hanging on the wall...plus a few other animals.
Did the deer hunting for quite a few years until someone turned me on to waterfowling. My deer rifles now have dust on them.
TheBeast:
What exactly is waterfowling?
Allofus123:
For me its Geese and Ducks. There are other birds classified as waterfowl but I mostly chase the geese and ducks. A big part of the whole experience for me now is the dog. It’s really something to watch them work..
TheBeast:
Do you train your dogs yourself?
Allofus123:
Yes and no. For the most part yes. I have a 12 yr old black lab named Ricki that I trained but she’s retired now. She’s now the queen of the house. My 2 yr old yellow lab is named Sugar and she had some professional training done when she was very young. About 6 months worth. I have taking her quite a bit further in her training since then.
TheBeast:
When did you first get into cigars?
Allofus123:
Lets start with I was smoking since I was 16. Had the habit early. Was smoking 2 to 3 packs a day when I got out of the navy. I never really smoked cigars but on a rare occasion. Well, after about 26 yrs of trying to quit smoking cigs I went cold turkey and did it. About 2 yrs ago a friend gave me a AF curly head deluxe maduro when his wife had a baby. I liked it, went to a smoke shop and freaked out at some of the prices on all of the cigars. I bought several not wanting the shop owner to think I didn't know what I was doing...hahaha! Needless to say the rest is history.
TheBeast:
Driven into the hobby by embarrassment...LMFAO. What smokes did you buy that day? Do you remember?
Allofus123:
Yea, and what a hobby it has turned into. The one I definitely remember was a Cohiba Red Dot. I bought it because I recognized the name and the damn cigar cost about $10. I figured if it cost more it had to be good..LOL!
TheBeast:
So is that the one that hooked you?
Allofus123 says:
Actually, the curly head hooked me. I liked it and to tell you the truth.... I was embarrassed to tell anyone I like them since they were only a $2 cigar. Hey, I didn't know squat.
TheBeast:
Are you a Cowboys fan or a "New" Texans fan?
Allofus123 says:
I hate the Cowpokes...I was raised in Florida with Bob Greise, Larry Zonka, Jim Kick, Mercury Morris.... LOL That was the late 60's and early 70's. I've been out here in Texas for about 22 or 23 years now and use to pull for the Oilers but professional don't do a thing for me anymore. I lost total interest when baseball striked and didn't have a world series. These sorry SOB don't give a rats ass about the game or the fans anymore.
TheBeast:
Top 5 gars?
Allofus123 says:
Thats a tough one..... I'm still relatively a newbie and I know there are lots I haven't tried but currently I like: Saint Luis Rey PC's, Bolivar CG, Cohiba siglo4, VSG's, and most of the Fuente's Hemmingway line.
TheBeast:
Well you're a surprise just like DaveWF...you don't really come across as newbie cigar smokers...why do you think that is?
Allofus123:
Maybe because I've jumped into this hobby head first. After that first trip to the smoke shop and walking around not knowing what I was doing I studied and studied all I could find about cigars. I've soaked up quite a bit of knowledge in a short time. I love it.
TheBeast:
I love it too!!! I'm smoking a Don Diego Monarch...any opinion of this smoke?
Allofus123:
Mild to med cigar I think.....remember something about some of them being short filler? Ahhh, I read too much.
TheBeast:
Have you smoked one...silly?
Allofus123:
ummmmm............ NO! Not that I can remember anyway!
TheBeast:
Then how can you have an opinion? LMAO.
Allofus123 :
Because I'm one opinionated SOB. LOL.
TheBeast:
Dream dinner date. Who are your 4 guests?
Allofus123:
Let me check and make sure the wife’s sleeping. Hillary Clinton, Janet Reno, Any member of PETA and Barbra Bush.
TheBeast:
What would be the main topic of discussion?
Allofus123:
We would talk about how the IQ level of Washington rose after Hillary and Janet moved…I don't know what the hell we'd talk about.
TheBeast:
Ok...stranded on an island you can have one: Box of cigars, woman, food, music, and book. What are they?
Allofus123:
Cigars would have to be big... lets go with SLR Double Corona, My wife, Side of beef, Rock and roll and the “Idiot's guide to raft building”.
TheBeast:
Who have you actually met and herfed with from BB's?
Allofus123:
From CP I believe Mark (Horse) is the only one. I sure hope so or I'm gonna feel like one dumb SOB. My memory isn't so good...This year I've been to a herf in Louisiana and Georgia so far. I've met a lot of people from CF at those. There's a guy at CF named Patiobum that lives real close to me. Several of the guys around here know him. Well, we get together every now and then but lately it Seems like we just haven't had the time. The last time we hook up was when me and the wife went to Georgia for a herf. It was kinda funny... we had to go to Georgia to smoke cigars with each other. Oh ****....... can I say ****? I knew I'd forget someone. I've smoked with Pete. He was in town and I got to smoke a few with him and Patiobum at our local smokeshop.
TheBeast :
Who is your hero and why?
Allofus123:Hero are my kids.....funny, none of them live with me directly anymore. Two oldest are married and having babies....three younger ones live with their mother and visit every other weekend or whenever they want.
TheBeast:
Anything you want to shout out to your fellow CP brothers?
Allofus123:
When I first got into cigars it was all about finding this or finding that...and though its still somewhat like that for me, the most rewarding part has been the people I've met and shared time with. There comes a time when you realize that its not really about the cigars...when you get that, you've got life whipped
