Sure there is. That's why it's an optical illusion. When her foot is moving left to right, there's no way to tell if it's behind or in front of her other leg in the the middle of the image. I can get it to switch by looking off to the side of the image and imagining it spinning the other direction. Eventually my mental image and the real image synch up and I see the other direction.I see it only counter-clockwise. The shadow is moving counter-clockwise, there's no other logical way for her to be moving.
