I am stuck, and my searches on both this site and the web have left me with no answers, so I'm asking those of you that are much smarter than me for help with this. The Tatuaje Lado Occidental, also known as the Tat West Coast, is one of the few Tats that has eluded me to this point, but recently in my search for one I have noticed that there might possibly be two versions of this stick floating around, or has someone faked these and they have been passed off as real. Here are two links to the different versions:

Exclusivo Lado Occidental

Verocu West Side

Are these the same sticks with different bands on them?

I definately won't claim to be smarter, but my understanding is that it is the same cigar. The Exclusivo Lado Occidental, Verocu No. 1 (6.25" x 52) is the West Coast. The Exclusivo Zona Del Este, Verocu No.2 (5.5" x 54) is the East Coast. Again, this is my understanding so correct me if I'm misinformed.

That's interesting I never saw that band that had the english words on it. I'm interested to know the answer too!

Pete Johnson is a member of CP - perhaps he can weigh in...

* West Side / Exclusivo Lado Occidental translates to "Exclusive to the Western Side"
ª Exclusivo Zona del Este translates to "Exclusive to the Eastern Zone"

Tat Nation

Here you go, best I could do

Tim

Here let me add to the confusion. According to Holt's, Pete made a Tat HVI called the Verocu #9 exclusively for them. I have never seen or heard anything about these.

Sorry to threadjack.

From what I have heard Occidental cigars filed a lawsuit with Pete claiming the Lado Occidental name he used was too close to their name so he changed it to West Side. I'm not sure if the Zona Del Este cigars will be called East Side. Pete can confirm this though...

Brent, I'll send you a Lado Occidental. I believe one of my local shops has plenty of them left and I picked up a 5er last time I was in there. They are excellent cigars!

Greg - you are correct regarding the West Coast deal. Funny how Occidental thinks that people would confuse their crappy sticks with Tats. I have it on good authority that Verocu will be released next year ... in a different vitola. ???

X2 on emailing Pete. I've wrote him a couple of times, and he always seems to write back pretty quickly. I think his email is just simply Pete@TatuajeCigars

As far as I know, No lawsuit was filed. There was a friendly phone call to Pete from the owner of Alex Bradley cigars.

Alex Bradley has a cigar called Occidental and he ask Pete to please change the name so there would be no confusion between The Occidental and Petes' west and east coast tatuaje.

That is why you now see West Side instead of

Exclusivo Lado Occidental and Exclusivo Zona del Este

Ah, thanks Mark. I thought the idea of a lawsuit over something so small was kind of ridiculous so that makes sense.

I saw him reading this thread lastnight...interesting that he didn't respond.

Yeah I was reading this on my cell phone and didn't have time to respond.

Marks comments are exactly correct. I changed the band as a favor to Alec Bradley. The only band that got changed was the Lado Occidental band to read Verocu West Side. Next time you see any Verocu on the market the bands will read in English.

Hope this helps and thanks mark to clearing this up......

Pete
