Complaint about Liga Privada #9 cigars

Chatted with JD. and he GENEROUSLY INSISTED that the sticks be replaced, despite my protests. What a class act business.

Just an FYI but DE freezes all their cigars at the factory before shipping.

Then there must be cross contamination an a coincidence! Again, I didn't make this statement to cause controversy. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it. Sorry for jacking your thread JHolmes.

Finding bugs in cigars is a BIG deal. Saying one brand is very prone to them is an even bigger deal. If it's true, this is something that JD needs to check in on. I'm sure he will.....

And I discussed it with JD, and gave him the names of the stores I've bought them from, and it was a productive discussion. Thanks for the information BBS.

....looks like you guys beat me to the punch. Well done....

Edited to add - should have refreshed the thread before posting. Sorry for the 11th hour quarterbacking. Carry on, gents.....

My only other complaint is that they are so damn good that I can't leave them sitting in my humidor for very long, even though these are kinda hard to find right now. I hope production ramps back up again soon. :)

Generous offer to Coops, JD. Sorry this turned into an actual complaint thread, but I'm glad it got worked out.

Well quality is better than quanitity. There are lots of other cigar companies that are pushing all kinds of different lines out and don't concentrate on making one line great like Drew does. But of course that doesn't make us stop wanting them!! :p

Yeah, um... I've bought 10 boxes of Flying Pigs and they allllll had beetles! :sign:

In all seriousness, way to go once again, JD!

Overnight in a deep freeze? How does the thawing out process work with condensation?

How are the oils effected in the leaves? Do you know who else does it?

Sorry about the thread jack.

Freezing is a very common way to rid cigars of beetle eggs and any beetle problems.

I do it with all my ISOMs as well. One day in the fridge, transfer to freezer for 48-72 hrs, back to the fridge for 24, then back to the humi. Haven't had any beetle problems or flavor loss/oil problems yet. I'm sure larger companies such as DE have more refined ways of doing it but this is a good home remedy.

...search, dude. It's a common practice.....

Fellas,

Drew Estate FREEZES everything. We don't do it in Managua at the airport, or at the loading dock where the containers lift off. We freeze all the cigars at the DE factory ourselves, to absolutely ensure that it is done correctly with no short cuts. We even freeze for other companies who pay us to do so.

The problem that this gentleman speaks about is a completely one off situation. Thanks for his help in the matter, as I will be reaching out to the store today.

Best,
JD

Had a conversation with Jorge Padron about this one time. Padron's freeze all of their cigars as well. It's a pretty interesting process.

FYI....finally got my hands on my first LP 40 this weekend thanks to a generous newbie bomber. I'm scared to smoke it however, because I know with my love of lanceros and small ring guages, that once I smoke one I'm going to want a whole lot more.

You know, it really is pretty damn cool that you post here, JD. It's certainly safe to say that you care a lot about your customers. Thanks for running a great company and for helping out when others might not.

Back to lurking.

Don't know if the bands are more user friendly, but the LP Undercrown Gran Toro is a very tasty smoke.
