Cohiba

The thinner Lanceros and Corona Extras only need 3 from what I have experienced.

Harris, not calling into question your knowledge.. I've found the Lanceros to be the most unpredictable cigars across the board unless aged 5+ years. You don't find these to have a hard draw when not adequately aged? Any particular storage techique for just the lanceros?

Though Cohibas are my favorite cigar across the board, the lanceros have always sucked ass in my opinion. Almost always plugged.

I was the biggest skeptic of Cohiba you ever met. Than i smoked my first cuban Cohiba and that was all she wrote. Now any time anyplace ill take a cohiba. But you will never see me with a NC cohiba.

I like Esplendidos, Siglo IV, Siglo VIs and CoRo.

I love Cohibas and it’s my favorite Cuban brand, though Partagas is closing in. There is nothing else in the Siglo VI size except the Edmumdo and the Siglo is much better. The Siglo IV is just an excellent smoke and a well aged Esplendido can’t be beat. I also don’t think it’s a brand that requires age but they do get much better over time. As far as money is concerned… it’s like every other brand in that it doesn’t factor into how good it is.

I think the Trinidad robusto extra is the same size as a siglo vi and is quite nice too, though similarly priced to Cohiba.

Siglo VI is hard to beat. My big problem is not wanting to crack into my boxes I'm aging so I keep smoking new boxes I order and they are still fantastic. Robustos are my most frequent Cohiba prob due to time restrictions on smoking.

I agree that it's hard to beat too, just a little pricey for a frequent smoke. How young would ya smoke the robustos? I got some that are only about a half yr old and they seem too young.

IMHO, with some age, they're fantastic (still a little overpriced) but if young (ie under 1 yr) I think they're nothing special.

I agree, age is the secret on most Cubans. However, the pricing is only here in the US a problem. In Europe, especially in Spain, Cubans are sold at regular prices. My favorites, the Romeo Y Julietta Churchill, is priced around 7-9 Euros a stick.
It would be great to get that ban lifted.

I was smoking them right away at first but now I have a good year buffer on my supply and they are fantastic. I did the same thing with most of my frequent smokes and keep a box or two for long term aging as well. Only set back is I need another humidor.

Kartik, the Lanceros are the most inconsistent Cohiba on the market, but that is due to construction issues, not tobacco quality.

If they draw properly 3 years is plenty. I store them like all my other cigars, I do not do anything different to store Lanceros.

I will say I have stopped buying them and will not buy them unless I can see the box before hand. They are the most pathetic excuse for a Cuban cigar on the market. It's too damn bad I love the flavor of them so much.

To each his own. I happen to be one of those unfortunates that love them. I'm so often disappointed when I smoke anything else that I rarely smoke anything but anymore. Count yourself lucky if you're not one of me ;)

I'm guessing you haven't priced out Cuban cigars in England, Canada, etc, etc...

Hmmm Good Smokes and as far as pricing goes Cohiba = Gold Bullion. But I do have to agree an aged Cohiba is hard to beat.

Someone laid me on to a Cohiba torpedo from a Top Cubans sampler (I don't think it had much((if any)) age on it), but smoking it while sitting on my deck on a beautiful summer afternoon and sipping bourbon along with it...
it was one of the best smokes I ever had. I've had a couple of Siglo IV's (also young) since then that didn't compare.
It's all about personal preferences and the moment.

Very true Harris... I do have a couple of mid 90's lanceros that came from the same box. The draw continues to improve (the improvement potential is probably finite), and I think that the contraction of the tobacco leaf inside might be a contributing factor. I also have various other Cohiba Lanceros from various years that are still ****ty.

That said, poor quality of construction is definitely to blame. Some may improve over time, and others may not. I cannot afford to buy them on the "chance" that they might be smokeable.

I've haven't had any major issues with the Corona Especiales, and I actually like that format a bit more...
