For those of you who love coffee and feel you really make a kick ass coffee, what type and brand of coffee maker are you using. I'm still searching for the ultimate home brewed combination.
 
You need to contact Infinity for the answer to this one Alan. He turned me on to the hands down best coffee maker I have ever had. The next best method would have to be making it French Press.
 
Moccamaster Clubline KB741 the only coffee maker to heat the water to the correct brewing temp.
It's not cheap but just like cigars, premium usually taste better! Linky

Umm, excuse me sir. But, ah, for those of us that don't get around much, would you please let me know the name of that new sweety in your sig line?

You see, I have this awful stiffness in my lower back and I'm betting that with those legs she could apply just the right amount of heel pressure by putting me in a scissor lock and popping everything right back in to place. :thumbs:

another vote for the moccamaster - and Brian didn't turn me onto it... I found it while searching for the best maker on Google! Seems there is a group called the Specialty Coffee Makers Association or some crap like that. They have a list of requirements on what makes the best 'specialty' cup of coffee - and this maker is the only one that meets those requirements.

Combined with Killer Beans, and my coffee snob of a Wifely Unit© (you have nooooo idea...) is a happy Wifely Unit©!
 
My wife and I visited with two of our best friends a few weeks ago. They served the best coffee we had ever tasted. The husband is a member of this BB too. We bought the coffemaker they had when we returned home. May not be "the best" but it's been great for us and them.

I purchased a coffee machine yesterday.

It makes an excellent cup of espresso and have made a few cappuccinos for me and the wife.
I am very happy with it in the ease of use and quality of the drink it makes.
My next step is to do a barrista course LOL
 
The question is, how much do you want to spend and how do you like your coffee?

I have three of the coffee makers aforementioned (in different model selections):

Drip - Technivorm Moccamaster CD (listed as the CD10 in the link). I use a Swissgold KF 4 filter for this, to provide a cup experience closer in mouthfeel to a press pot coffee product. The filter runs about $20. The Moccamaster is essentially the same as the KB741 model, with just a slightly more modern appearance to it. They will each run you close to $200 and there is little price variance among their vendors. To be blunt, if you want the best home model drip pot, Technivorm is the only company to look at.

Press pot - Bodum Chambord 1L. Bodum Chambord is pretty much the standard of press pots (French Press). I'm not saying they're the best, merely the most ubiquitous. Any sturdy press pot will do, and press pot is generally considered the ideal method to brew coffee. The only caveat to them is that they require a higher quality grinder than other brew methods will be forgiving of. I wouldn't spend more than $35 for one. If you do go press pot, you'll also need to invest in a good vessel (thermos) to pour your coffee into after it's completed brewing.

Aerobie AeroPress - I like it. Seriously, give it a try if you're any bit adventerous. It's not what it claims to be - an espresso shot maker, but it extracts very good coffee (Americano). About $30, I think.

I won't bore you with other brewing contraptions such as vacuum pots, moka pots, etc.
 
For me it's all about espresso.

A few years ago I bought second-hand Expobar Office Control espresso machine and it brings me caffeinated joy every day. If you're even remotely interested in having a machine to brew espresso and steam milk, I definitely recommend this model. It has a commercial grade pump that allows you to brew your coffee, steam your milk, and keep on doing so without having to wait a long time between shots like most home models.

As for beans, the best coffee I've ever had is a roast called Malabar Gold. It has a reddish-gold crema and a rich flavor I've never tasted elsewhere. Never tried it in a drip machine, but now that I think about it, I'm curious how it would taste.

I use my pour over pot at home. Fedco 52 here at the store. I love both of them!

I NEVER liked the grind and brew pots, too many problem can happen with the grinder as they tend to get clogged up.
