I need to get on that one. Been busy'ish, but I could have still found the time to have it knocked out by now.

If its any consolidation, I read 3/4 of the book last night in about 4 hours. I'll try and finish it tonight. Strange book, we will discuss more when you are done and the 3 of us can get together. Or are we posting here? @Johnny B

No worries! Ultimately I’d like to meet at the virtual herf site to talk and smoke, but if scheduling becomes an issue we could start a group Dm.

That'll depend mostly on Nick @kann For a little while longer his hours are screwed up. I'm good either way!

Let’s see. I’ve recently read the first Lord of the Rings book. I don’t remember Tom Bombadil being in the movies… I can kind of see why he was left out (didn’t really add to the overall plot in the first movie).

I read Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. It was unique, to say the least. I’m not sure if I liked it. Weird concept and the ended was too open for me.

I’m reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand currently. I’m about 1/3 through and this could be the best novel I’ve ever read. I feel that everyone should read this book and it should be a required read in every in high school.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my reading list…

I think this is in order.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. This is an amazing novel. The page count can seem a bit daunting, but it’s worth plugging through. The theme of capitalism vs socialism couldn’t be more relevant.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Talk about a bleak view at a post-apocalyptic America. Another great novel.

The Way Home by Mark Boyle. This was an ok book based on the real life experiences of the author. It follows his journey to off-the-grid living in Scotland.

No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy. What can I say, I like the author. I watched the film once, a while back and don’t remember a lot of it. The novel is great!

Saving Emma by Allen Eskens. This novel was surprisingly good. As a parent, this one struck home in a few ways.

Seize the Night by Dean Koontz. Another good book by Koontz. I like how he incorporates animal characters in his novels and this one doesn’t disappoint.

I’m currently reading The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. This novel puts the science in science fiction. I like biology and this novel checks a lot of boxes for me. There is a slow build up, but it’s still been enjoyable.

Having seen previews for the movie Mickey17 I found that it is based on a novel, Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. It's a quick, easy read and pretty fun.

I followed that up with a couple other of his books, Antimatter Blues (sequel to Mickey7) and The Fourth Consort, but found both of those to be inferior. They're not horrible, and they're short, but still not great.

I also recently read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (author of The Martian) and it was pretty good.

Somewhere in the middle of all this I read the most recent Gray Man (by Mark Greaney) and Orphan X (by Gregg Hurwitz) novels. Both were really good, and better than the last couple in each series IMO. I was hoping for a new James Reece/Terminal List novel this summer, but it looks like the author decided to write a prequel of sorts centered on Reece's father in the 70s, so I guess I'll have to give that a try when it's published.

Currently reading The Road by Cormac McCarty. My first dip into Cormac's work and I'm quite impressed. Very unique style. No punctuation, no chapter breaks. Pairs great with a good smoke. Anyone read his work?

I finished The Andromeda Strain. On the surface, the ending was horrible. I believe it was supposed to end the way it did to point out how vulnerable we are and how preparing for the unknown is a stab in the dark.

No punctuation? That would drive me insane.
I thought I would feel the same going into it but a good friend swears by Cormac as an author. It's effortless to read and the man has a way with prose that I have never read prior.

I learned something very interesting about myself yesterday. When i am really into a book and reading at a very quick pace, I chain smoke... Not a little, a lot. Had to slow myself down more than a few times

It's easy to get zoned into a good book. This is going back a long ways, but I have a specific recollection of one time that I was reading something during study hall and I didn't even realize the bell had rung until everyone started shuffling past me on their way to the next class.
