Here are my opinions on the concerns brought about so far. As far as the -2 points that an opposing D will get because your RB or QB throws an int or fumbles, that's the nature of the game. It's going to happen to everyone. If there are guys that are prone to throwing INT's and fumbling so you need to take that into account when you draft and when you make your pickups.
Next, as far as negative scoring goes for a defense, if I do away with a defense sucking one week, giving up 44 points and rewarding them with a 0 for that, then the same argument can be made for a D that throws a shutout. I won't reward a defense that gives up 45 points with a 0 and turn around and not reward a team that doesn't give up a point. If you expect points for an outstanding week, then you should also expect to be penalized when the D YOU CHOSE THROWS UP A STINKER!
These are fair points that you guys are bringing up, but at the same time, you're trying to make things so simple you don't have to put effort into putting a team together. Since the unlimited waiver pickup rule has passed, I'm not going to start implementing rules that make it so easy for points to be scored that you only need to change your lineups during bye weeks.
Put in your due diligence in your draft boards so you don't have to worry about these things. The 6 points for a field goal over 50 yards should make you rethink who you draft as your kicker. The point system for a defense means you may need to draft an elite D in the 8th or 9th round if you want the extra 5 points a week they will afford you instead of drafting a mediocre D in the 16th round. Getting 1 point per reception should have you think about what RB you draft. Does he rush for 100 yards a game and catch 5 screens a game also compared to the guy that just runs for 125 yards a game.
I'm not going to make this league so simple that my 13 year old son would be able to come in and hold down a .500 record. I want it to be competitive. I want you to really think over moves you make through the week. I want you to think about the draft and who you are targeting before the draft starts. You have ultimate control over what your team does. If your're one of those guys that is going to pick up a mediocre D in the last round and then pick up a new one each week for matchup purposes and don't make points or go negative, that's your own fault.
If you need to alter your draft process because of this, then start thinking about it now. You're in control of your teams destiny. You can draft any QB,WR,RB,TE,D,or K in ANY ROUND!! If you decided not to put much stock in a certain position and decide not to draft a K or D until the 16th round, then I don't want to hear any complaining from you about how those postitions are scored.
