Greetings to all from a newbie.....i look forward to getting involved with a pass and some poker!....

I have been approached to operate a small cigar operation in a bar, and will only have space for about 24 different brands in the display humidor...i personally like maduros (el ray del mundo's are my favorite) and rarely smoke natural wrappers, so that's where i need some help.

If any of you have some suggestions for a good variety of smokes in mostly a moderate price range i would appreciate it!

Welcome to CigarPass!!!

I would suggest:
Excalibur/Hoyo de Monterrey
Oliva "O" Bold/"O" Maduro
Sancho Panza Double Maduro
El Rey del Mundo Robusto Larga/Suprema (the ones with the tissue wrapper)
La Gloria Cubana Serie R
La Unica
Arturo Fuente 858 Flor Fina
Carlos Torano Exodus 1959
Indian Tabac Maduro
"The Edge" by Rocky Patel
Perdomo Reserve Maduro
Mayorga
Cuesta Rey
Diamond Crown Maximus
El Rico Habano
Joya de Nicaragua Antano
La Flor Dominicana Ligero

Set up a humi like that in a bar and tell me where it is and I'll do my best to pay you a visit

Good luck with your venture!!

Ditto for everything that CC said, he hit the nail on the head with this very nice selection...if you had this sort of selection at a bar at reasonable prices I would absolutely patronize you..Good Luck! :)

Ya, What he said.
He is nuts on.

I would also recommend
El Ray Del Mundo Rectangulare, both maduro and natural
Gurkha (Doble Maduro)(Grand Master)
Onyx
CAO
Camacho Corojo
Torano Cameroon 1916
Padron (2000-6000 series)

Good luck

A lot of good choices above. I would make sure to have some Macanudos and perhaps some form of cohibas in there for the person who wants to smoke a recognized name and doesn't know any better. :D

If that's the case I would throw some RyJ's in there too.

I agree with CC also but also put some top dollar in there also.

I thought about that too Wicked but they're usually hard to come by so I didn't add them to my list. :(

Probably the most realistic one would be any Padron 1964.

The whole swisher sweet line dont forget the tequila flaverod one plus the white owls. Seriously i think CC had a good list i would buy any of those if they were reasonable.

As a couple others have said, you'll want to get most of your smokes to cater to non-cigar-enthusiasts. When it comes down to it, the owner of the bar wants to add another reason to why his bar is so cool, and also most likely wants to make a profit off of it.

So I would suggest a large offering of non-cuban counterparts to popular cuban cigars. RyJ, Cohiba, Montecristo, ERDM, Fonseca, and anything else with a hint of "cuba" in their name. This is for those that don't really have a clue, however they're drunk and they want to have a cigar.

For those that have a clue, a selection of moderately priced good cigars will be appreciated. RP Vintage, Mayorga, some Gurkha's or K Hansotias.

Then a box or two of something that's really good. Such as some 1964's or some of the easier to come by Hemingways, like classics or signatures.

I guess some further clarification would be needed regarding what the target market would be. Are you hoping to get some folks that really know cigars in the door? Or just adding another service offered by the bar?

And to further clarify on my part, even though I listed off those cigars that I did in the "don't have a clue" paragraph, it doesn't mean that there aren't some good cigars made by those folks. But name recognition is a large part of sales in this business.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

You need to clarify where you fit in the grand scheme of things at this bar. Is he hoping to draw cigar aficionados? Or just wanting to sell cigars to the people that already drink there. If the former, then some of the higher end stuff would be good. If the latter, than Atuck's list is what you should go for.

As an alternative, you could do both and see what sells. It will become apparent quickly.

My list was purely a joke! I certainly knew that it couldn't possibly be taken seriously.
