Cigar Oasis

I'm fairly new here, but I love my Oasis. Seems to be doing the trick thus far.

A bit off topic, but how did you dial in your Oasis ddepaola? Salt test? If so, how did you accomplish this with the size of the Oasis?

Thanks!

Rob

Maybe "dialed in" was a bad use of terms. I had a calibrated hygrometer in a seasoned humidor. I set the Oasis to a certain level (say 70%) let it set a few days. The calibrated hygro read about 64.5% with the oasis set at 70%, then set the oasis to what I thought it should be to achieve my desired RH, then tweaked just a little bit to get where I needed it. I have since also began using beads to help with the stabilization.

..... in theory they all do the exact same thing, maintain humidity.
Respectfully I cant say that I agree with that. The Viper beads will also absorb humidity while the others wont.

Respectfully, I didn't say anything about how the recommendations work to maintain the humidity. I said they all do the same thing, maintain humidity. :)

IMO, trying to compare how each work is apples and oranges which is why I recommended he search each to discover how they work and what he felt would work for him. While most will agree that beads are easy and work for most they are not the end all for every situation.

Sponge... You are probably using some type of PG 50/50 solution. This is the same stuff the use in antifreeze. This stuff does work, but like I said.... ANTIFREEZE

Actually ethylene glycol is what is used in antifreeze not propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is perfectly safe to use with cigars and is what you will find in those 50/50 solutions.

We did have a member here at one time that argued that Ethylene glycol was safe and he had been using it for years..... I'm sure someone will soon post pictures of the cigars this individual traded here.

Found it..... pages 8 and 9 were halarious.

The review of the Antifreeze stored cigar!
