Cigar Box Bird Houses For Sale

CC - Hafta ponder this some. You've already tried to sell a counterfeit Jag on these boards. How do we know the birdhouses are real? :p

Do you varnish the boxes in any way to protect them from the elements?

I'll take one either way, but if there's some kind of coating to weatherproof it, I'd be more likely to put it to it's intended purpose.

I'm only going to buy one if it's signed and numbered. God knows you're going to be famous someday. Not sure what for, but you'll get your fifteen minutes, I'm sure.

I need one, but only if it will seal well enough that I can't hear the In-Laws freakin Birds. :sign: I really, really hate those birds.

Too bad my cat isn't mean. :sign:

I'm glad you asked that question! Back in the 1970s we used to have a 38' Matthews wooden cabin cruiser that was made in 1929. There was LOTS of "brightwork" (mahogany that was not paited but varnished with marine spar varnish). Around that time, many companies were developing urethanes, poly urethanes, epoxy-based polyurethanes, weatherproof and ultraviolet light resistant, etc.

Well, we tried many of them and we found out that the best finish was good ole marine spar varnish so that's what I'll be using on the bird houses.

Bill,

Would have any fancy options available?

Your into birdwatching, huh? My fiance works for Birdwatcher's Digest. Her parents started the magazine from their house and now her brothers run it right here in Marietta, OH. I am going to have to show Bill this idea. No worries, he won't take it, but he is going to get a huge kick out of it  !

Bill,
I am very impressed with your arts and crafts abilities!
What boxes do you have available for the bird house conversions ?
I am interested in getting one!

Believe it or not, I'm guessing Bill's not the first person to have this idea. I once fed squirrels out of a Bolivar Corona Giganta cabinet box. Drill a hole in the back and filled it with peanuts. They actually figured out how to slide the lid open instead of using the hole.

Where the hell'd you pull that one from so quickly?

Gary doesn't show his artistic side very often in public, but it's there. In spades.

I think it's sad that he just can't come out and admit that he's been making "fancy" cigar box birdhouses for years.
