Hi guys...

I recently got a new puppy... Not the one I initially set out to get (America Bull Dog), so I went the other way, and got a miniature dachshund (weenie dog). I KNOW I KNOW! What a switch.

Hey! I couldn't pass up a dog that looked like a cigar shape!!!! :p

We named the little fella STOGIE .... :whistling: Ok, I named the little fella STOGIE! ;)

We all love him, and he's convinced he's a human baby, well... maybe we're convinced that he's convinved that he thinks we think he's convinced about being a human baby!!? ANYWAY! Now I'm looking for a dog collar that looks like a cigar band  I've searched around and couldn't find any... I don't even know what step 1 would be to custom make one.

Any help???????????????????????

There are a couple of pictures on my cigar.textamerica.com web site of him... video clips too...

The day we got him... Sep 3 :)

CLICK HERE to see a video of him playing on the carpet, again this was the next day after we got him... He's a bit bigger now at around 5.5 pounds..... he should only get to about 7 pounds total.... He's a killer!!!!

Hmmm... being a dog nut, and always looking for new crap to buy for them (no kids so they are spoiled ROTTEN!) I have not seen a cigar band collar before. My only suggestion would be to find a guy that does custom leather work and have one commisioned. I know a guy here in Alaska that makes awesome stuff with leather (had 2 XL harnesses made for pulling carts) so the next time I run across him I could ask... otherwise, you could try the yellow pages for leather workers or goods? just an idea...

That is one cute dog.

I would like to get my dog a cigar band collar as well. I have never seen one. But if anyone come across one. Be sure to post it out here.

This could be a good project for someone into crafts.

 Hey Tony, uhh... Tom! Welcome back, where ya been?

First step would be to smoke a bunch of Opi's cause you'll probably want to use wider bands when you make the collar. Plus it says class.

Or better yet, you could modify your Championship midget wrestling belt and make into a giant cigar band. :sign:

Congrats on the new pup Tom! That was my very first dog ("Bandit"). To this day, one of my top 2 best dogs (my first is my current dog "Buster", he's a boxer).

Anyway, I had thought of this idea a little while ago and am working on getting some done. I'll let you guys know as soon as I get closer to having them finished.

~Mark

ps - Love the name too!!!

I'd be interested in one too if anyone finds a source or if somehow a group buy if custom done. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Mark

Glad to see the interest in a cigar band dog collar... Strange that no one has done one yet, especially for Dachshund's... If you google dachshund names, you'll find a list with the top 100 names for dachshunds, and MADURO is in the top 10 as I remember.... We thought about naming him MADURO but my mother said it sounds too much like MANURE :p so we decided on Stogie. It fits him well, as he always try's to eat my cigars and my wife's cigarettes.

Big HI to all the familiar names in the thread.... One day soon life will be normal again, no worries - no problems - no burdens and I'll have time and the piece of mind to sit back, relax and spend a little time online reading forums. :D

Well, it looks like custom printed ones will be prohibitively expensive.

I came up with three other ideas that may work, I'll try one of them out this weekend that isn't too difficult. The other needs to be discussed with an "expert" that I will see this weekend and the third is the last resort because it's a pain to do.

I'll let you know how the experiment works this weekend.

You all have a safe weekend and smoke something! Winter is almost here!!!

Who the hell are you, newbie, and who the hell do you think you are coming in here and asking stupid questions and having stupid ideas for your dog?

ME!? I'm a self proclaimed idiot. At least thats what my wife keeps telling me! :sign:

I hope to stick around for awhile AGAIN!!!! :whistling:

EDIT: had to fix a typo, thus proving my point entirely!

CLICK HERE to see a more recent video of our puppy trying to be tough. We're encouraging him --- hey! he's tiny, and you gotta be able to put up a good tough persona to survive in this dog eat dog world!!!

Whats funny is, while you watch him bark - if who ever he's barking at approaches him- he's got 2 standard responses... 1 to lick them to death, or 2 run away back into the house. :p :sign:

We're trying to make him an attack cigar dog! :whistling:

Dachshunds are great hunting dogs we use them all the time over here. Dachshund in german means badger dog literal translation thats what they were bred for hunting badgers. They can also be trained to track wounded animals and are great for drive hunts they dont get the animals running flat out and they are small enough to be easily identified. thier main use is for den hunting foxes and badgers.

My last family doxie lived to 17 and half.... Great dogs... I have a 90lb bulldog now, phew he is like no other breed I have owned, including two bullmastiffs.

While I've never seen a dog collar that looks like a cigar band, that'd be awesome. I've got two labs, and now a yorkie, and I can honestly say after trying tons of different collars, that Silverfoot makes the best collar. Comfortable, and if you have a big dog, the part chocker collars are good for keeping them down without hurting them.

Good luck, and if you find anything let us know! Someone had a cigar dog toy (It was a big plush cigar) but I forget who.

That was me. Got it at Target. I wouldn't recommend it if your dog is a chewer at all. Our Golden tore it up pretty quickly once he started his chewing phase.

I looked and looked for a cigar band collar and came up empty, too. I'd like to see it someday!
