Checking up on my Palio

The fed-ex man dropped my palio off at the door yesterday and of course I was very excited to check it out. I took it out and decided to put it to use right away. The cut was perfect, but it seems as though the action of the cutter is stiff. So this brings me to the question, are Palio's supposed to be a somewhat stiff when they are brand new? I did a quick search and didn't find anything so I thought I would seek the advice of fellow owners. Thanks in advance
 
If I recall, neither of my two were stiff new.
 
Mine was very stiff when I got it. It'll loosen up with use.

Ditto. Mine was stiff when I got it (this sounds like a bad porn movie), but loosened up.

The same holds true for one of my friends who just got one
 
Mine wasn't so tight that it was concerning, but it did loosen up with use.
 
It seems like the consensus is that the Palio is initially stiff but after good use it loosens up...yeah this does sound a little odd :p and thanks guys!
 
Mine was very stiff when new and has loosened up some. I used to sit at the computer and "work the action" while reading CP. Plastic on plastic rails. Still the best cutter I have ever owned and the price is pretty good as compared to others.

OK, back to cutters. From a maintenance standpoint, one thing many guys miss is down the road, the cutting edge will get coated with oils from the 'gars you cut. I think lots of guys that down the road say "my cutter is dull" would be very surprised to find out what a good cleaning with isopropyal alcohol will do for the cut. File that one away for six months from now...... :cool:

I put my Palio in the dishwasher to clean it about every other month. Comes out clean as a whistle and ready for cutting.
 
It looks like the Palio has opposing wedges on the sliding blades that give a little more firmness towards the end of the cut by forcing the cutting edges closer. But it still sometimes feels a little gummy or sticky. OT, is there any recommended cleaner for cutters? Besides Scotch.

Palio cutters are fantastic. Mine was firm, but loosened up after time. We're both aging gracefully over time ???

After reading so many great reviews of Palio's and using another brothers the last time I herfed I ordered one this morning. Should have it in a couple days.
