Car Chase/Crash

Not my first chase but my most exciting one so far. We (myself and my partner) were going to backing up another officer who was trying to stop a reckless driver of a stolen vehicle (did not find this out till well into the chase). I am ridding passenger. We enter the pursuit and are the sixth car back. My buddy decides we need to be leading this chase. So after several graceful maneuvers we are second car. This idiot has drove all over the city and has changed direction twice and avoided the spike strips two times also. At a intersection congested with traffic the idiot tries to run over a police officer (who for some reason has gotten out of his car). We take to the median and recover to take the lead in the chase. New ball game. I am calling the action on the radio for dispatch. I see this guy making gestures with what I think is a gun toward his head. I advise other units of his actions. Pursuit continues 70 +miles/hour down city streets. Our part of the chase ends at an intersection with an unsuccessful pit maneuver. We hit the left corner of his bumper and turn him he somehow corrects from this and hits us in the right front of car (bumper car time). Well shit we went this far so lets take him out. My buddy hits the gas and we side swipe him in an effort to get him off the road. No such luck he is driving an older Lincoln town car and he just hits us back. So we are going down the road and instead of us pushing this guy off the road he is getting the best of us. He get us pinned against a curb and is giving us hell. I am trying to draw my weapon but my seat belt has me hung up. The guy finally get off the side of the car and starts to pull away we go to fall back in behind him and realize we have lost our steering. End of the road for us. Shit-Bird finally crashes out in the next parish after avoiding the spike strips three more times and two more agencies taking up the chase. Come to find out guy is drunk (hell of a driver) stole the car Sunday in Jackson MS. and want the police to kill him (depressed and off his medicine). No serious injuries involved shit-bird goes to hospital for chest pains (probably from the numerous taser probes in his ass) and will be charged with three counts of Att. Murder of a Police officer and numerous traffic charges. The only good thing is I don't have to write all the reports but did have to go piss in a cup. Glad to hear you are ok. Nothing more butt puckering than getting into a pursuit. It amazes me everytime to see how careless for life these guys are. Stay safe from a fellow brother in blue! :thumbs:

I've always wanted to piss off the cops enough to have them chase me in my truck and see if I could outrun them. I'm pretty sure I could give them a run when I went off-road but I'll never know cause I'm a big pussy that wouldn't hurt a fly.
 
That is sweet. I love watching Cops and chase shows. I honestly don't know how you guys refrain from kicking their ass when you finally catch them. My adrenaline would be pumping so hard and I would be pissed for this scumbag jeopardizing all those inocent peoples' lives that I would have a very tough time keeping my hands off him. Glad you and your partner are safe, thanks for keeping the streets a little cleaner.
 
That's one helluva story. Glad to hear that you and your partner made it out ok (it's nice to see the good guys win.) Thanks to all who keep my end of the justice system in business (Dept. of Corrections.)
 
Geez sweets! Glad you are ok! Next time you need some excitement or something try and find something a little less death-defying and dangerous...Glad that asshat is off the streets.

Being a cop is too much fun...You get a gun and a fast car. :thumbs: I've been in chases many times in my career. I usually get the shakes when they are over.

Glad you made it out OK...Looking forward to the video.
