Can't Figure Out Why My Humidy Is So High

I have a wineador. The temp is set to 66F, and sometimes get a few degrees lower, average 63-66F.

I'll post a pic of my setup below.

I recently have redone the inside of my windeador. I added in all the blocks of spanish cedar, they weren't in there before. I added all that open space at the bottom for air circulation since I was having a problem with that before. After I had redone the inside, I had 2 Boveda packs, 69%, one on each side of the boxes, below the pile of cigars at the top. For a couple weeks everything seemed to be going fine. Now, I noticed that my humidity was going up to 80%, and my hygrometer shows a high of 83%. I've always ran in the 65%-69% on average. Occasionally, it would go to 71% or 72%, but never higher. I pulled one of the Boveda packs out yesterday morning. I looked right now, and it is still reading 79%. I can't figure out what to do. There is only 1 Boveda pack in there now.

The pic is from the first day I redid the inside. Not from today. For reference, my hygrometer reading is coming from the top of the pile of cigars. It's been located where the dish of distilled water is in the pic. Also, for reference, there is another block, same size, on the side. You can barely see it in the pic. Helps keep the cigars in place.

Don't mind the distilled water in there. That picture was from the first day after adding the wood. The humidity went way down, so I boosted it for a day, day in a half. Then took it out.

Any suggestions on what the problem is, or what I can do?

I was wondering if the wood was the culprit. I wasn't sure how much the wood actually affects the overall humidity. I know the wood does, just wasn't sure how much.

That's what's confusing me. Here is something else that is confusing:

It's at 65% again. The only thing I did was put 5 Montecristo cigars in there. Then when I checked it shortly after, it was reading 65%.
The only other thing I noticed was it was reading 67f not 66 or lower.

Would Humi Care Blu (4 oz) jar of beads suffice? I have those on hand already, or are you referring to something else I'm not aware of?

I am not a fan of gel beads - buy hard beads, like I linked to above. Buy a half pound of loose beads and a mesh bag or two.

One last piece of advice - please consider learning to use the search feature here at CigarPass to help in your journey. For example, there are 170 pages of threads in the Cigar Storage forum, with 3,400 posts, that have 20+ years of members experiences, advice and pitfalls. While it may take a little more effort than just posting every new worry about humidity or mold issues, the education you earn from diving deep into the forum is worth gold in the long run.

We are here to help and lots of great advice is given here free, but endless questions makes us feel like the cigar Siri of the internet.

Understood and acknowledged. I will try the search feature first. I often try to use the search before posting. I thought this was a more specific question with too many variables to be honest.

Either way, I understand what you are saying and where you are coming from. I will heed your advice. Thanks for the link!

Clicking the “Search titles only” box helps narrow the results down, as well as using quotes for searches ( example : “green mold” vs green mold)

Another benefit of diving deeper into the archives is you get to read posts from less active members who may have been core contributors of the forum in the past, but life ( or death) has kept them occupied elsewhere. This community has survived due to the contributions of thousands of members, not just the current post whores of today!
