I am subscribed to Cigar Aficionado magazine.I was wondering what do you guys think about their cigar ratings ?

Use the search function on this one as it has been dicussed several times. Personally, I agree about 15% of the time, but it does give you a good starting point. They put too much emphasis on things I don't care about such as the look and feel of the cigar and that skews the ratings a good deal.

I just subscribed to CA but few months ago i bought several back issues from ebay.I made a list of 30 cigars that i want to try from the ratings they had and flavors were not even close to my personal experience.

It's amazing how some of the advertising company cigar's get top ranked :whistling:

I think they are a good guide. I've rarely been disappointed with the cigars they rate the highest... some don't fit my palate but the majority are very good cigars, just my opinion though.

The cigars i bought were mostly cheaper ones and less known, rated between 89 and 91 and i just cant agree with CA about quality and some flavors but of course we all have unique taste and diffrent amount of tastebuds.

Even the members on the CA forum question the system. Interesting responses by the executives. Although, I do not think it would benefit CA if there was a relationship based on AD revenue. They have so many ads and they rate tons of smokes. Also, they rate a number of cuban sticks where no revenue is earned at all.

Just some food for thought...
