Hello BOTL -

I purchased this new humidor and the gentleman I got it from stated I still need a humidification machine? It is cedar lined and electronically temp controlled. What are you all doing in these style units for humidification?

All the info needed was given, Mods go ahead and close this thread.... 🤣:eek:

....what we have here is a failure to communicate..... 🤣

I think what my fellow erstwhile members are suggesting is that there truly are about a million (...half a million..??) threads on this subject. Storage is one of the first things new folks usually ask about. If you'd care to use 'search' you'll find several solutions, ranging from what I suggested (active humidification), to passive devices (beads and Bovida packs) to a sponge wet with PG and water. Costs range depending on how consistent of a solution you're looking for. Depending on budget and how much you're willing to fiddle with it, there are choices.

...oh, and there are a couple thousand other threads saying you should immediately get a decent digital hygrometer ($12.00-ish) and salt test it first. They're right.

Do a little reading, and come back with some specific questions....??

insert witty quip about BBS being a "member"

Beads in your wife's stockings, always do the trick!

And before John @jfields tries to convince you that anal beads regulate humidity, they do not.

Hahaha oh boy... I appreciate your guys quick wit is impressive. Also - the quote on the Avallo website is sales pitch enough. 'The experts at top25cigar.com are saying that "The Accumonitor humidification system takes care of your cigars like the head masseuse at a Four Seasons resort" and that its performance is "Amazing to say the least".'

Honestly, if it seals well, I would just use some Heartfelt beads and flat container of distilled water until it was stable, I will say, that if I had not found a Hydra XL on ebay I would have used the Avallo, even had a quote from them.

Turns out the Hydra XL is way overkill, so I am just using my old small hydra....so I have an Hydra XL sitting around.....doing nothing....at this very moment
