Bolivar Petit Corona

This is what's left of my BPC's...

I think having that many left is too tempting. You should definitely send some my way for safe keeping. I am sure some other members of this forum would be happy to help too. :p But seriously. That is a pretty site. A "kodak moment" if you will. :D

After pulling a fiver out of Doug's cooler last weekend I tried one last night. I picked up the coffee and cocoa on the first couple puff's. The draw on mine was perfect with great smoke, Maybe Doug's was a little tight huh? This was one of the better PC'S to date for me.

That does it. I am going to have to get one...or 5 now. This site is bad for my bankroll. :p

If you like rich, earthy flavors and robust tobacco, then the BPC is a good one to try. Personally, I have yet to have a good Monte 4. While it certainly has a very different flavor profile than the Bolis, I'd say the inconsistency has to do with instances of sticks with an almost complete blandness to them. This has been the case with the Monte 4 in the form of the Monte 4 as well as the Petit Tubos. The Sig II is much milder and a bit sweeter IMO without the rich tobacco flavor. I'd put up some Sig II if they weren't so pricey. As it is, the Juan Lopez, Boli, RA and RA petit coronas meet most of my needs. The PLPC is just so hard to find or so pricey that I can't really consider it a candidate for smoking rotation. Oh, and if you like the PC size, it might be worth your while to try the tubos (Hdm Coronations, Punch Coronations, RyJ Romeo No.2 Deluxe) for a change.

Wilkey

I managed to find two of these thanks to a botl, I have yet to try them. I am becoming a fan of the PC.

I've noticed with the petit corona's that you don't get the copious amounts of dense smoke from the draw that I have seen in other sizes. This may be because of the tighter draw on this particular one. This is a great smoke with a glass of wine.

Review Update:

I have had a few more of these, I have to admit they are much improved with a little more time in the humi. In particular I keep the humidor these are in between 60% and 65% RH. Still a very flavorful cigar and I notice the draw is much improved. A good cigar and a very good value.

Thnaks for bumping this to update it. I recently picked up a cabinet of these that I split with a friend of mine- Apr '06 box date. I've only had 1 so far, trying to let the rest of them sit for a while.

I was thinking about trying these, but I don't believe I'm a fan of the Bolivar profile. The royal corona and belicoso's I've tried were okay but that's about it, okay. With the royal corona it was hard for me to pick up on anything outside of the spice and maybe earth..might need down time for my palate. I love the party short thou!

Nice review! Being a fellow PC whore I like seeing what others think of certain sticks before I take the plunge.

A BOTL recently gifted me with a 5r of these, what an AMAZING smoke! It ranks high on my PC scale along with the MC 4 and Upmann. I'm down to my last 2 of the 5r and after reading this review I'm gonna head downstairs and burn another one. Anyone have a 5r they'd like to sell? :whistling:

Sounds like I need it more than you Dice, you've already tried it!

I had m first Boli PC last night out of a fiver I acquired. It was quite enjoyable.I liked it more than the PLPC's I have. The Boli had a few years on it while the PLPC's are still young.

Almost all of the BPC and BCJ I have been smoking lately have drawn very well. I get very full billows of smoke. And the wrapper, well, most 2005 specimens I've seen have just been magic.

The BCJ is my all time favorite smoke. I was lucky enough to get 2 of these in a trade about a year ago and when I smoked it the draw was just incredible. Little puffs yielded great billows of smoke and through the whole smoke it never once got too hot and I tend to hotbox a little. unfortunately my other BPJ left this world unsmoked but it was well worth it.

As to the BPC I have one sitting in my humi from a pass and I am looking forward to smoking that when my friends baby is born.
