I read (gee I wonder where) that they re-released the Bolivar Gold Medals for 2007. I searched high and low for a press release or some info on them, but alas, I found nothing. Not even Habanos SA had anything on their website which always seems outdated anyway. The most recent info I found was on CA's site and it was dated 2005. Does anyone know anything about the re-release? I was curious as to the blend and if there are any reviews. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

From what I hear they are certainly worth trying. Depending on what they're going for though I'd be apprehensive about getting a whole box right away.

Last night though (and Siriusstogie and Opusxfiles can attest to this) I got to see the rare and elusive Silver Medal at our Beef & Boli IV herf. :sign:

Supposed to be the same blend as the Wolter's '05's. If so, worth every penny of whatever they cost. But, we'll have to see. These are official Habanos SA released BGM's and may not have been as closely blended as Christopher's.

Those that have tried both suggest that the 2006/2007 release isn't as strong as the 2004 Wolters release. But the new release hasn't had the benefit of aging for a few years either.

There were a couple of boxes released in Cuba during the Cigar festival, but they are all gone by now.

I think these might be priced around $280 (depending on the exchange rate) for a box of ten. Just a guess. :whistling:

Ouch,

Here we go again with the megabuck cigars. I understand that that price reflects a specific exchange rate and dealer situation but still...that just plain sucks. What's good for Habanos S.A. can really be punishing to the average consumer of these cigars.

I just haven't got room in my coolers for many more $30 sticks. For about the same price, I could buy a 50 cab of PLPC, or a box of Bolivar Coronas Gigantes, or a box of Partagas Lusitanias, or...you get the idea.

I agree Wilkey. Let me clear up my above statement.

-$280 for a box of ten is (probably) going to be the highest price for this cigar. I recall the 2006 Cohiba primade release at around $270-290 for a box of ten. These can now be found for around $200. I hope that the BGM will drop in price and I kinda think that this vendor has them set this high as a 'prerelease' cigar.

We shall see.

Don't worry Wilkey....I have PLENTY of room in my 3k stick humidor. :D

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly, Wilkey. However, I have stayed away from many of the 30 dollar sticks that have been released so I don't feel too guilty. Hopefully in ten years I'll have five or so left and it'll all be worth it. And now I'll have one or two to trade for some of those other 30 dollar cigars. I feel a review coming on soon because I couldn't find one anywhere.

OUCH!!!!!
What is w/ inflation in the UK?!?!? $47.60/stick .. that's just not right.

Looks like Spanish price for these cigars are set for 90 euros for 10, so I expect them to be about $120 when they finally hit the rest of the market. My feeling is that the UK vendor is just trying to make a fast buck off those who can't wait an extra couple of months.

I think you read that wrong, the "280" number already has the dollar sign in front of it, so it's not 280 British Pounds which would be about $476.

Could that price have been for the 2004 release?

These are not the 2007. I e-mailed the vendor for the price on the 2007's. They are 139 GBP which is ~$280.
