Blind Taste Test Review Pass

Psyk. When you say holes... do you mean beetle holes? ??? I don't get it. It was a Bell. The tube said so! :p

Please don't tell me there's a beetle problem! :0

Toaster. Your review is on its way. Stand by. :D
Sorry, I meant to say binder and filler. And I mean HOLES, like over half an inch, or maybe tears would be more accurate. Had one dark leaf, one medium and one so pale I wasn't sure it was actually tobacco. Dumped it in the crock I use for a butt can and there was still a coal smoldering in there and the stench from the loose leaves as they smoldered was awful.

Are you sure someone didn't reband and package something? I mean, if I were the Osgeners, this stick would have never left the warehouse!!!

No, I can't be sure of that. ??? I suppose it is possible that the cigar was re-banded but I highly doubt it based on the people here at CP. But one never knows.

I just looked in my humi to see if I had another one. I was mistaken when I said the stick came in a tube. It did not. I still have that one. I thought at first it was another one. It too is a cameroon. I will send it out to you if you are up for another review and you can see how it compares.

I will edit the review where I said it was in a tube.

If the tube is gold, that's a CAO 65th L'Anniversary -- the one I had was actually very tasty.

It's a silver tube and not a Bell. Its more of a hemmingway figurado shape. It's a cameroon.

I'm really enjoying reading these, great idea Steve. Glad to see I'm not the only one without a clue. :sign:

I'm have way too much fun Wascal.

And... we still have 22 cigars left to be reviewed. WooHoo!!! :D

Well I'll be :D

I got the brand right- I'm impressed with myself!!! :sign:

No need to applaud.... just send me more cigars! :p

Well, I'm glad I never bought these...... Thanks for the experience- it was a blast.

Review Cigar #06 - RicMac25

CigarNumber: 06

CUBA ALIADOS Robusto 5.00 x 52 $2.00

Appearance: Fair

Appearance Notes
5 x 50-52. Nice Robusto size. Light brown wrapper with a few color variations that is trying real hard to be oily but doesn't quite get there. A few veins.

Construction: Good

Construction Notes
Construction was alright I guess. The ash lasted about an inch then totally disintegrated.

Burn: Even
Problems: None Found
AshColor: Dark Grey
AshStructure: Flakey
Draw: Easy
Aroma: Fair
Smoked_To: Less than Half Smoked
Strength: Medium
Recommended: No
Scale: Ho-Hum
Class: Regular

TasteNotes
I'm a little congested but then again I'm always a little congested and can never quite taste that Madagascar Vanilla. Taste was ok, nothing great. Left an unpleasant after taste.

OverallNotes
I can see someone who smokes 3-4 cigars a day maybe enjoying this one, but only at a really good price. If you're smoking 3-4 per week, I'm sure you can find better.

The Manufacturer Said: Cuba Aliados is produced by the famed cigar maker Rolando Reyes, Sr. in Danli, Honduras. It is a benchmark Honduran blend with DR Piloto Cubano seed leaf added to temper the recipe. The result is a very flavorful, smooth, full-bodied smoke that is sure to please.

What SD Said: I've never had one of these. I think they are a popular yard gar from what I have heard. I guess I won't get to try one now. :p Good review.

Review Cigar #24 - PuroBrat

CigarNumber: 24

CUBA ALIADOS Piramide No 2 - 6.5x56 $3.00

Appearance: Fair

Appearance Notes
This cigar had several large veins, 2 patches about ½ a dime size. It was solid feeling with no soft spots and had a nice sheen.

Construction: Poor

Construction Notes
One of the patches must have been covering a stress crack as soon after lighting a crack spread from under it, that went over half way around the stick. It also burned with a cold spot you could feel when drawing, that was coming from one of the veins.

Burn: Uneven
Problems: Split/Unraveled
AshColor: Light Grey
AshStructure: Flakey
Draw: Easy
Aroma: Fair
Smoked_To: Past the Band
Strength: Medium
Recommended: No
Scale: Blah...
Class: Bundled Cigar

TasteNotes
Pre light taste was of some type of Whisky or fermentation, pleasant. After lighting the flavor was earthy and grassy with a hint of tar, this was the whole flavor profile. While not unpleasant, was certainly not what I look for in a cigar.

OverallNotes
6.5 x 60 Torpedo Maduro Before smoking this cigar, I had determined that it might be a Perdomo Cuban Parejo Belicoso Fino. After smoking, I hope I was wrong, because that is one I have been wanting to try. If I am right, I will try another just to be sure this wasn’t a dud. Based on this one cigar, I would not want to smoke anymore of this brand.

What SD Said: Two Cuba Aliados Sticks back-to-back. Neither reviews were favorable to the brand. ??? Are we beginning to see a pattern? :) Thanks for the review PB.

nope, no need for that Steve; after all, I'd know what it was now. I may have to pick up one of the gold tubes on my own at my local shop and see what it's like. Should be easy to spot, this must be a huge tube! :D

It's a silver tube.

I just read 3d's latest review that I will have up shortly. I am beginning to wonder if you guys even like cigars at all! :p What does it take to please you? :sign:

CAO MADURO NAPOLEON 4.75x56 $5.00

Appearance: Good

Appearance Notes
Figarado shape like a big fat short story. Dark oily maduro wrapper.

Construction: Outstanding

Construction Notes
Good Draw, Firm Ash, plenty of smoke, Slight runners half way through

Burn: Uneven
Problems: Runners
AshColor: Dark Grey
AshStructure: Very Solid
Draw: Perfect
Aroma: Poor
Smoked_To: To the Band
Strength: Medium
Recommended: No
Scale: Blah...
Class: Premium

TasteNotes
initial light up was good, afterwards the taste was not up to par. Kind of bitter and grassy.

OverallNotes
Looks like a cigar I'd buy once b/c of appearence. I didn't really care for the taste. I think this is one of the CAO cigars.

The Manufacturer Said: The CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro is a classic, dark Connecticut Broadleaf-wrapped maduro cigar that builds to a wonderful climax. This box-pressed smoke begins mild, with tastes of chocolate and coffee that slowly build in depth and power with each puff. As you near the band, it becomes a robust maduro cigar with a heavy aroma and a long, spicy finish.

What SD Said: Another CAO bites the Dust! :sign: At least I'm getting rid of them. :p I thought everyone liked them but me. I thought I was sending you folks a treat by including them. Oh well. :D

Hey, I thought the ISOM RyJ was good -- even smoked it to the band! :)

I'm going to review the second stick tomorrow. From the look and smell I have a feeling that it will be much better.

THat's great Mok. This really is enlightening though isn't it. THe ones I thought would get rave reviews aren't doing so well. The others that were thrown in for good measure are getting better reviews. There are exceptions I guess. It is weird too that you will see most of the questions answered "good" but the cigar will be blah and not recommended; however, they smoked it to the band. I generally throw 'um out quick if I don't like them. Time is too short and I have way too many high end sticks to waste my time on one that isn't (to me) perfect.

This is a great experiement. My thanks goes out to Nexus and to you for bringing it up.

Ya'll are doing a fantastic job. I wish I could learn to review poeticly <sp> :p

Hey... at least I'm consistent. Although I would recommend one of the "ahem" cigars you sent I wouldn't smoke either again! LOL!

Aloha,

Wade

ps: I know I'm a snob but I like it that way! :D

For the record, I enjoyed the Sherpa (cigar #1)...... :)

As for smoking to the band, unless the cigar is rank, I'll smoke it and give it a chance... as I've smoked some cigars that start slow and get better... but if its just awful I'll toss it quick.

Some of the cigars that got review so far, are some outstanding cigars... I would have LOVED to get the RyJ Ex #4 and the Camacho 11/18..................

Great reviews guys.... BTW: I noticed PB and I both thought the GPECC's were bascially the same (sweetness, etc), I thought that was interesting.

Thanks again for the opportunity to play :)
