Is there a better movie than Godfather I? I can't think of one. Sure there are movies for special occasions. But I checked this out of the library after work tonight and watching it as the wine flows.

For human drama portrayed on film what is better? Not much.

One of my all time favorites. Shawshank Redemption is also high on my list for "human drama" movie.

Not really a "classic" good movie, but one of my all time favorites is Boondock Saints. Absolutely love that movie.

Boondock Saints was a good one. But one of my all time favorite go to movies is Scent of a Woman. Another good one is Saving Private Ryan. Hey Lumby, now that is a tragic movie.

Well since it's impossible to say which movie is the best movie without some specific context, such as what is the best movie to watch on a rainy day while feeling depressed, or something like that, we will stay within a possible implied context such as Francis Ford Coppola's best movie. You say The Godfather 1 and I say Appocolypse Now by a mile.

I just had to reply to this being a huge film fanatic. :)

I thought I was the only person in the world that liked that movie....

I'd hesitate to call it the "best movie ever" but it's way up my list of "good ones".

Cheers - B.B.S.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I consider that all one movie and the greatest movie of all time.

Actually it was very entertaining. Unfortunately it was very Hollywood also. This could have been a much darker movie and probably would have been better for it.

the Big Lebowski may not be the best movie ever, but i can never find a hole in it. casting, writing, directing, the list goes on. it also rivals caddyshack for quotes.

One of my favorite movies. Did you see the deleted scenes on the DVD? The lesbian joke one is great.

I think it's too hard to say what the best movie is without separating genres.

Ive gotten into vintage and foreign films lately. The new stuff just turns me off with all the computer generated crap. Give me a guy in a big harry suit not some animated flying bug like in the new Star Wars movies.

Das Boat or Casablanca for No. 1.

North by Northwest or maybe The Maltese Falcon for second.

For pure cinimatography Pulp Fiction has all you could want if you want something contemporary. I wrote a paper on it for a film class years ago. SPR gets an honorable mention here as well.

Im sure there are some Im probably overlooking in my haste.

well..i really gotta say, you can't have just one greatest of all time...I have 5
Pulp Fiction
Godfather I
Apocolypse Now
Caddyshack
Star Wars (original 3)
