Beer Tasting @ my place

Just a heads up, but all the Smoke from the Oaks I've had from the first release have been sour, and gushed like crazy. Definitely chill it down before you crack it open.

Thanks Justin for the heads up. Man I hope its didn't go south cuz this is one I've been wanting open for a while. :(

Most reviews I've read of Batch 1 seem to indicate an infection. Unless you've kept it at fridge temperature (around 40 degrees) it's probably gone downhill. :(

It was several years ago the last time I had it, but I liked it even though it was sour.

For all of you that are coming tonight please drive safely ... no hurries I will hold off on the good stuff   as much as I can. If you need directions or my phone number PM and I will let you know how to get to my place.

Cheers!

Thanks for the great beers and food Mike. Awesome party. Mighty generous of you to open up your cellar to all us mooches.

The highlights for me Fifty Fifty Heaven Hill Rye Eclipse Stout, Goose Island Vanilla Bourbon County Stout and Bruery Einer's Folly.

As expected, The Smoke from the Oak was infected.

Darkload 2008 and Stone Vertical Epic 2005 were also good but I felt were on their down slope.

Had a great time with some great botl. See you guys again soon.

Hey Guys glad you enjoyed yourselves. For those that couldn't make it ... no worries ... I am thinking of hosting something like this every few months. Since I am moving to a bigger place, with a fire pit in the back I can be more accommodating.

As Chico mentioned the nights highlights for me were FiftyFifty Heaven Hill Eclipse and GI Vanilla BCS. Einers Folly was up there and a great beer (pretty drinkable) but wasn't as complex as BCS Vanilla. VE 05 was good but showed signs of going downhill ... I am on the fence about Darklord ... even though I can't say I hated it or love it, it had a unique taste and I think Billy made the perfect desciption, "Port Wine" ... it was like a cross between an IRS and Port Wine. I enjoyed it.

Biggest disappointment was Smoke from the Oak, I was hoping it wasn't infected but it tasted like some of Jolly Pumpkins brews that I am not to fond of.

Thanks guys hope to see you again next year!

Cheers
Mike

Edit:
PS - As tribute to my brother Justin who could not be there we opened his Quad Homebrew which I have to say it was pretty good. Smooth and sweet! Thanks Justin maybe next time.
