Beads, Credo, or Gel?

Vern is no longer selling beads, heartfelt is the best source now. The beads are great.

Just to repeat, I guess news hasn't gotten around:

Unfortunately, Climax Beads are no more

I knew he was having some problems but I didn't know they were done. I'm all set with beads anyway but eentually I'll need more so I guess I know where to get them now. Thanks

What are you trying to humidify, how big is it, and how dry/wet does it get where you are at?

250 Western humi, 3 Water pillows and a jar o' gel are working it @ 67%. I use a tupperware and another pillow for my daily digs so I don't open it but 1 a week.

I'm losing clarity on the gel, so I figured since it's like 14 months old now, it's time for some new stuff.

I can get pure propylene glycol for $23/gallon delivered so I am just wondering...

I live in Indiana and the weather changes too much to pin it down one system. Hot/humid - cold/dry - hot/dry - rainy/cold; and that was all in the last 15 mins.

I just swithed to bead and they are great. Got them from Heartfelt also.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question on how the beads work. Reading Heartfelts instructions he says to put the beads in a waterproof container with the lid open and drop them in your humidor. Does this mean the beads sweat and can drop moisture, and that is why they need to be in a waterproof container. Also I was wondering what is the maintence/life of the beads? Is it a recharge over and over again situation. Right now I am using an Ashton humidor and it working like a charm, but I am looking for an easy solution for my travel humidor.

Thanks,

K

I agree with everyone about the beads, for now they are foolproof and I couldn't be more happier with the beads. I got the beads from heartfelt, very good service.

I just put my beads in a small Tupperware container and dropped them in the humidor (Barrister Bookcase from JR). They took about 2 days to get the humidity up to 65%. After about 2 months now, they have dropped slightly (~62-63%). I will now spray them with distilled water to moisten them and that should allow them to get the humidity back up to 65%. Very little maintenance required with beads. So, you really only need to moisten them slightly when the humidity begins to drop and hold lower than 64-65%. If it gets too high, you can blow dry them to remove some moisture.

Nope the beads will not sweat. Why he mentions a water proof container is for the fact that you are dealing with gel beads that are holding water. Its like putting a sponge on a piece of wood. Sure it will retain the water but still with being on bare wood you will leave a water stain where the sponge made contact. Plus when you pour water into the beads they do not soak up all the water immediately. But just remember they do not sweat unless you make them work out!! :)

And another vote for beads...Heartfelt Industries with out a doubt.
