I can't do the active humidification (oasis) because I'm a cheap baastahd. I can get a gallon of Propylene glycol for $26 and some change...and a gallon of Distilled water for a buck. A block of wet oasis sponge is $3.00...
total-$30

I have seen/read/touched the beads...but don't know the cost.
total-??

Oasis is all over the place from $70+...
Total-$XX

I'm on the 1 year mark on my last jar of gel, and it's looking kinda slimy...
so what should a guy do?

yer $hittin me man...I know that there is prop. glycol in there...but wtf...Are you kiddin or like dead serious?

I use climmax beads and love them. They come in either 65% or 70% and require very little care. I put a small cup of water in my cooler and humis every couple of months for a day or two and that pretty much does it.

You can buy them from Vern HERE
You'll find all kinds of great humidification accessories on the site.

Hope this helps

so the sponge/foam is a dying beast eh?

Absolutely IMHO

Especially for larger numbers of cigars. It just requires too much maintenance for proper humidity with foam.

apparently the site I gave has been changed. I would still go with the beads just buy them from another source. Bargainhumidors.com has something that looks like it's probably the same thing as climmax beads just search on their site.

Climmax has gone out of business. I just ordered a half-pound of 65% beads from Heartfelt Industries. Type "Humidification Beads" into Google.com and it'll be one of the first few links.

Hey gator.....

I believe Climaxx is done, he has not returned anybodies e-mails and has not filled orders.... maybe someone who has his # should give him a call. I do remember someone saying he was sick.

Vern is no longer selling beads, heartfelt is the best source now. The beads are great.

Just to repeat, I guess news hasn't gotten around:

Unfortunately, Climax Beads are no more

Another vote for the beads.

I have beads in both Humis, the fridgedor and coolerdor.

What are you trying to humidify, how big is it, and how dry/wet does it get where you are at?

Agreed. Both my humis and cooler are "Powered by Heartfelt"..... :D Viper will hook you up pronto.

Vern and I spoke on the phone not too long ago. He confirmed that he'd had some health issues. He did say he was feeling better but told me that basically they were "our of business". I wished him well and that was that.

I switched all my humis and coolidors to 65% beads a few months back and it was the best decision I could make. Effortless accurate humidity control.
