Dear SamClemmons,

With some recent changes at the work place, I now spend the majority of my time on-the-road instead of behind a desk, but it is important that I continue to maintain a professional appearance in public - even when behind the wheel. Crisp linen dress shirts (...always finely pressed! ), understated silk ties, and my signature fashion accessory - suspenders of the highest quality. While I do keep a proper sport coat in the car for the most important meet & greets, I can get by with the shirt / tie / suspender/ tasseled loafer combo for the majority of my work needs. ( On a personal level, I feel the suspenders help me stand out in a crowd , but give the impression of being approachable, yet rugged.) My dilemma is this : Now that I have embraced your no-pants philosophy of living, how should I attach the suspenders ? I have tried adjusting the suspenders and attaching them to my knee high gold toe dress socks, but the tension from the suspenders causes my toes to curl , not to mention the unusual accordion-like undulations to my stride. Please help - I fear my suspender fashion faux pa is causing real harm to my professional image.

With much gratitude,

MilesMingusMonk

I clip them to another anterior appendage which keeps the suspenders about the right length. ;)

Besides ... It really gets some looks from the gals!

Ditch the suspenders... think quick release holster, preferably 44 magnum size or larger. Also, tinted windows and cheap sunglasses.

Gotta give Neal his due, MMM! That answer sure does go a long ways towards creating the "rugged" imaging you're seeking!!!

However - I'm thinking some discussion is in order over that "approachable" part...

Neal - do you really think a 44 magnum is the way to go? Or do you think Miles would be a bit more approachable if he were to go with something a tad less gauche - perhaps in the .32 to .38 caliber range??? Maybe even a .40 cal.? And maybe even sitck with a semi-auto, versus a revolver?

So that's where you've been. We were talking about you on Tuesday, It's good to hear you are on the work release program now!

MMM is the only man I know that's gotten an extended prison sentence for solicitation of prostitutes... Something in his technique, I hear...

The holster is not for an "actual" gun.

SamClemmons : While the loss of my trademark suspenders would be life altering, a long barrel revolver would provide visual symmetry.

Tone- NY & Ggiese : Not that it is any of your damn business , but it t wasn't solicitation of prostitues- it was salutations to prostitutes. Just a simple misunderstanding really...

The entire purpose of suspenders is to suspend something from them. Given the lack of anything else to suspend from them, a holster would be an exciting and useful accessory.

Perhaps the misunderstanding was yours. When shaking hands with a prostitute you should remember that at least one of your hands is necessary and that no other part of your body should be involved.

Mr. Clemmons, I beseech you,

Muffin tops or bagels?

Thank you for your time,
