Has anyone tried the Ashton Heritage Puro Sol? How do they differ from the VSGs. Both Ashtons.. Both sun growns.. I get the impression that the filler binder and wrapper in the HPS are all sun grown where only the VSG wrapper is sun grown. Can anyone compare the tastes?

VSGs are much stronger... and I believe the Puro Sol actually uses a Cameroon wrapper. But I could be mistaken. I still like the VSG taste profile better. The HPS seems to be a bit rough.

Give the HPS some time, the VSG was nockdown rough when it first arrived. Here is a link for the official Ashton info.

It's my understanding "Sun Grown" only means just that, and can be any type of tobacco as long as it's not artificially covered while growing and is taken from the upper leaves so as to not covered by any other leaves above them. The VSG wrapper is proprietary, but there are lots of sun growns out there. The HPS claims to be 100% sun grown as well, including fillers I beleive they say, its just that the wrapper was grown under an african sun.

I had one yesterday very different taste than a VSG. Much milder but it wasn't bad, construction was good as well as draw. I have another that I am letting sit for a while to see if it improves any

I like the HPS better than the VSGs but that's just my personal preference. I like the description from Ashton.

I wrote a review of one, ssearch for Puro Sol in thread titles in whatcha been smokin.

I actually finally found one and had it the other day. Good, nice change of pace, but I prefer the VSGs.

Any updated opinions on this cigar? Everything I have read on here is 3-4 years old and pretty negative. I’m wondering if a few years later any opinions have changed?

I had a couple, both the Belicoso #2 and the Corona Gorda...and I have to say I didn't really care for either one of them. I'll admit I smoked them young, but there was something about the flavor profile that I didn't really enjoy. I'd be willing to try another one after it's sat for a year or so, but I'd probably grab an Aged Maduro or a VSG before one of these.

The Puro Sols are ok but for the money I like the Vsgs much better. Maybe they need a little rest. Ill have to give them a another shot sometime.
