Are all Drew Estates cigars flavored?

Hmmmm good to hear you carry them in your store... have you SMOKED one? If you smoke one of the natural line you will soon see that they are indeed flavored. Unaltered tobacco does not taste like sugar all on its own.

I sniffed the foot of a Java something or other that was sitting in a mostly empty box at the local shop. Man does that thing smell like shit. I figured that since I like coffee I wouldn't mind the smell, but yeesh. Someone must like 'em tho, as the box was mostly gone.

I shrugged and walked over to buy one of the Don Carlos gift sets. Whatever.

Although they do have a flavor, to say that they ARE flavored is not correct in that the tobacco has not been exposed to any method which artificially flavors the tobacco. To say that they HAVE a flavor is a better way to put it.

The flavor that DE Naturals have is from the tobacco that they make the cigars with. TheSaint who is an independent sales rep for DE said this:
"The Natural line works like this-We take tobacco from 12 different countries and make it into a sort of "short filler". This tobacco is then spread on to long leaf and covered with another long leaf, this process is repeated over and over till it forms a bale. This bale is then pressed for 6 months, the pressure and heat makes the "short filler" become one with the long leaf...Thats the easiest way to describe it." -The Saint

The cigar is not flavored or scented artificially. It gets it's flavor from the short filler tobacco. After trying the Root, I decided to try the DE Natural 'Clean'. It was too sweet for me. Even though I tried the Clean and di not like it, I loved the Root. I look forward to trying others in the Natural line-up to see if there are any other good ones.

If you rule out the DE Naturals without at least giving them a try, you might be missing out on something like I almost did. You owe it to yourself to give at least the Root a try. If you don't like it, no harm done. But at least you can say you have tried it.

So DE has figured out how to make flavored cigars without adding anything to the tabacco? Tabacoo doesn't taste sugar sweet naturally or we would be sprinkling tobacco on our cereal in the morning instead of sugar.

There are so many great cigars on the market today that there is absolutely no reason to waste time trying to find a Drew Estate that might not taste like sh#t.

You are absolutely correct! But how did you find those great cigars? Did you let someone tell you that they were great, and because someone told you that they were great you too thought that they were great?

HELL NO! You didn't let someone TELL you that they were great and base your decision on that...opinion! You tried them for yourself and found out that they were great because they pleased your sense of what is good, right?

Isn't that what we do with ALL cigars? Try to find those that we like by trying different cigars, even though it is a fact that we ocassionally end up with a stinker?

Since no one can tell me, or any one else for that matter how my taste buds will react to any cigar, I will enjoy to continue to try those cigars that I want to try, and determine for myself whether or not I like those cigars.

The cigar lover's creed is, "Smoke what you like and like what you smoke."

The other half to that is that no one can tell you what you will or will not like. It is good to get opinions, but until you have tried something for yourself, don't rule anything out. I found that out when I tried the DE Natural Root and found it to my liking. I never would have found out had I not tried it.

I can tell by smell whether or not a cigar is going to suck. I had fun stepping on and smashing all the cigars that "smelled" like shit at the Big Smoke. I wouldn't have even bothered smelling a Natural, I would have just dropped, stepped and kicked.

The Drew Estate lines including Natural and La Vieja Habana are not flavored or infused. I carry several of these in my store including the entire Vieja line and most of the natural line which include Elixir, Root, Dirt, Egg, Medusa etc. These are all long filler, no pipe tobacco or other additives.

Just so you know, La Vieja Habanas are NOT a long filler cigar. :whistling: Their not bad for the price, but they have WAY too much of a cigarette aftertaste.

What the Hell is "Tabacoo"! ???...... I might put that on my cereal!

I have had a couple La Vieja Habanas, they tasted alright, definitely were not flavored or "sweet".

Some of the La Vieja's are long filler - the Leather Patch, for example...

I have very little confidence in anything that "TheSaint" from CW says as being factual.

He's a blowhard....

There are many people that could qualify as "blow hards". However, being qualified as such doesn't necessarily make them liars.

I just had an Industrial Press that wasnt flavored. I thought it was pretty good, although I'm betting they cost more than they are worth. kind of a Macanudo type thing, decent but overpriced.
