So why don't one of ya'll start one.

After reading through the February Newbie Training pass thread I thought we would need an experienced member to run the pass and maybe have one or two more added into the pass for everything to run smoothly. I'd be happy to try it, I just don't think I have the "know how" yet to run it myself.

Actually, SaxJazzMan started it, and he was just as new as the rest of us. He got one FOG involved, in the second spot, to make sure once he packed it up and sent it out, that everything was in order. So far everything has gone well, and there's only a couple spots left. It should be wrapped up in the next couple weeks, why not hold off until it's done, read through the whole thing to see how it went, and then start it off.
IF you are going to run this yourself, then please get the help of someone who has run a pass or two before (for reasons insight mentioned as well as others). If you are hoping to jump into one; I may have a solution. I've been thinking of starting a pass or two in the very near future....look for details soon.

Excellent offer/suggestion Cory!

Tc7man... there's a saying that FOGs throw out and it's really sage advice (especially since you've been a member of the board for less than a week) and this saying will truly provide understanding and wisdom beyond belief:

Read more and post less.

You're enthusiasm is fantastic Tc7man, no doubt about it, but eBay experience doesn't mean anything here and quite frankly is a joke. Offering interpretations on the way passes are conducted without having any experience with a pass to begin with is also quite dangerous and irresponsible.

The Newbie Sampler Trade is a great way to meet a FOG and get a little trading experience. I had such a great experience with my first NST (thanks, Husker), I ended up doing a second NST (thanks, marcsheldon) with equally good results. Maybe if you start with the NST you'll meet that FOG who will get the pass off the ground.

Stick around and look around. The answers become clear. If you're unsure why things are the way things are then start using the 'search' function and read through old completed passes. 'Search' some meltdowns and you'll see why established members police the board and why members tend to laugh in the face of comments like, "my eBay feedback is 160." There's a lot to learn if you take the time to learn it. ;)

edited to add: LMAO @ PHIL for the post above. Phil what box are you gonna buy first with your new riches?

Man there are a lot of people dying in Africa with no relatives. I know I've gotten about 4 of those for $10 mil or more each.

Good to see you lurking around bro!!!
Keep me in mind if you get a pass going Cory!!!

Take care bro!
:D Sup Dave?

Well, things are starting to roll on my end. I just put together the cigar list, an instruction sheet, and check list. I'm planning on opening it up to members w/ a year or less .. so Dave, you will just squeak through. :whistling: It should have a wide range of cigars where everyone should find at least one they like. I'm only going to open it up to about 15 participants; I don't want it to go on forever. It will be a first come - first served basis, so don't bother posting here; post that you want in when the thread shows up sometime this week.

Question: who coined the phrase "read more post less" first on CP? The first correct answer will be guaranteed a slot in my pass (so none of you old guys answer). And as an added bonus, what is my favorite modification of that phrase? (bonus TBD)

I have been working with a newer gentleman here that may be organizing an April pass. I am not going to out him as he hasn't officially thrown his hat in. But... after chatting with him, he seems pretty fired up about starting a pass. Well bro, you gonna announce it

....what do I win..... :sign:

Have fun, guys - B.B.S.
Um ... NO .. "Way wrong answer!" ...

For those who do guess an answer, please provide a link to where you got your guess. Thanks.

Ding ding ding .. we have a winner for the Bonus question.

But it appears that the search engine isn't allowing for results past a certain date. I'm not sure why. So to find the correct answer to my first question, you may have to inquire to some old codger what the correct answer is. And in this case, no need to post the link....unless Rod gets the search engine fixed. (I really hope the error isn't PEBKAC) :whistling:

It's a go see SPRING FEVER PASS...

Thanks emodx for all the help

Congrats on getting the bonus question, I think the answer to the main question may surprise just about everyone.

Yea .. preembargo figured it out; but you will need to use your intellect as well as the search function.

I'm going to go ahead and guess Moki coined the term in June '04: http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=7508

Close, but look at page 5 ....
Well, there, moki insinuates that emodx is the FOG that told him.
It is also on the site rules - but I don't know how long that has been there or whether it would have been created by Rod. I do know the "read more, post less" idea is on a lot of forums.

Ummm, dare I say it? READ MORE...

You'll need to use the search function and utilize all of its options.
