Anyone try the Pepin 601 BLUE LABEL

I smoke the DGP Black, Blue, JJ and 601 on a regular basis. They are my go-to sticks. I generally think they each taste very similar, with the JJ being a bit more smooth. They're consistent in flavor and I've never had a draw problem. And, they all pack a great Nicaraguan bite. They're the sh.t.

Get some fivers, and like MC said, unless you really, really like a mild cigar, leave the Connecticuts for the girly boys.

Since I posted this I've had the opportunity to taste many of the more popular Pepin creations. The 601 Maduro(Blue Band) while a tasty cigar, is not my favorite. With many left to try, here is my opinion and ranking:

1. Rey Miguel - subtle and complex full body, medium full strength
2. Pepin Blue Band(not 601!) - FAIRLY COMPLEX BUT

Be wary of looking for a "Pepin-esque" cigar when you read that it's blended by Don Pepin. I like the 601's but they are a far cry from being what you expect from the Pepin line, Cabiguan, Tatuaje or even Padilla.

They are good cigars and probably the best use of what tobacco United decides to buy, but I do think that it is different than what is bought for the botique lines of Tatuaje, Padilla & Pepin lines.

Interesting that you should say that. The Troya label has a Don Pepin blend it is advertising. I have not tried it but just the Pepin name have made the sales skyrocket. I would be interested if anyone tried these.

I found the Troya Classico to be very close in the flavor as the Pepin Garcia Blue Label.
The are both blended by Pepin with F: Jalapa-grown Corojo and Criollo W: Corojo Oscuro

As some have already said, the blue label is great but not my favorite 601. I am absolutly in love with the red labels. I've tried every single vitola they are making in the red and the Toro and Rabito are far and away the best smokes in the like. They are perfect.

I havent seen these online but it was quite a nice cigar, it was a Series 601 Blue Label Box Press.

Has anyone tried one yet?

Pepin Def Helped Eddie and Erik with these sticks, he told me so himself with Eddie sitting next to me....

I wouldnt completely call them a Pepin stick but he did have alot to do with the blending of the different 601's I would call it a "joint" venture.

The humidor I work in part time now has a nice collection of Pepins. I've tried all the 601s and like the Habana(red band) best. The El Rey de los Habanas line is excellent, too (that is the name of his Miami cigar factory). The Padilla 1932 Toro is wonderful stronger Pepin smoke we carry. The Lancero of this blend is excellent as well.

This thread has hung in there. Pepin rules! :D
