It's true. It has been confirmed on CBid's forum by Steve_R. I think the title of the thread is something about "Overlords" or the like.

Remains to be seen if anything will change dramatically in the NEAR future. I'm sure there will be many changes to come later.

I heard about this rumor as well. Don't know if it's true or not, but Swedish Match was also the supposed buyer.

I wanted to add that I heard on the Dog Watch show that Imperial agreed to terms to buy Altadis, so it seems like there is a lot of shaking up in the cigar biz.

I think it's Altadis that owns 51% of JR. Swedish Match is buying CI. I think Swedish Match owns General Cigar, but I'm not sure of that.


As far as the Padron rumor goes...in the last 2 weeks I've heard that Fuente, Padron, Perdomo, La Flor Dominicna, and Tatuaje were all being bought up. None of those have turned out to be true at all. I would be very suspicious of anything being talked about in those regards.

Of course, I'm no expert. I just read a lot.
