Anyone have a 120qt Cooler'dor?

I have one. I've had it oriented both vertically and horizontally.

If you want max. storage, go horizontal (no shelves) and I'd say you could definitely fit 20 boxes.

Holds humidity very well. I only need to recharge my beads once every 1-2 months but I open it up pretty regularly.

Damn - I almost bought it but I want the ability to put shelves into it. First I have to figure out where to get the shelves.

I know where to get the trays (2), beads, oust fans so I just need to get a cooler with ability for shelves and then the shelves & 1/4" thick cedar for the walls.

With the beads and a little mass from boxes, you don't need Spanish Cedar. All the shelves and panels do today is look cool.

Isn't that what its all about? ;)

The cooler arrived yesterday, and it was quite a disappointment. It was exactly the size I needed, however it was defective. The seal was horrible, when I dropped the lid, it sounded like plastic hitting plastic, no whoosh at all. I put a flashlight inside the cooler to check for leaks, and it was pretty significant. Returned it last night for a full refund. While I was at the store, I checked the cooler aisle and they had a bunch of coolers in stock. Wasn't impressed with any of them, most of the seals were bad. Pretty surprising... Now I'm searching for something better...

Rod, I have the best luck with Coleman. Expect in April a large shipment of coolers to enter the store. With them sales.
Perfect time to try them all out for the perfect whoosh!.

After I weatherstripped mine, the RH has been at 66% for over 2 weeks now. Works great! A GREAT test that I discovered, is to shut the lid, open up the drain plug and blow in it. You should have some resistance. Before I weatherstripped, you could litterally feel where the air was free flowing out of the top. Great cooler test!

I just received the coleman 150qt cooler from Walmart a few days ago.

I think the seal is good. I have filled the cooler now and see if the humidity can stay constant.

I have been looking at that one too. It seems like a pretty good price for something that big and of that quality.

Did you do anything to the seal to improve it or was it ok out of the box?

Rod, do you have Costco's in your area? They sell some awesome 120qt. Igloo's there. I hear the ones that you see on Wal-Mart are considered seconds, thus why so cheap.

The Igloo's there also have a nice little access lid to get in, plus the slotted insides to allow for shelves. I didn't have to do any cutting on mine. That way if I ever get that walk in Humidor, I can always use the cooler for it's intended purpose.
Ran about $65.00 when I bought mine a little over a year ago.
Sits upright nicely, and standard trays fit in just perfectly. I put a bowl of beads in and drilled small enough holes that the beads would not spill if I knocked it over, but still let the beads work their magic. With the bowl, I don't have bead dust everywhere.

jfields - Where were you able to get shelves like that? I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on a coolerdor but want to have all of the other items ready to go first....shelves (I know I don't need them but I want them), wireless hygro, more beads, etc.

Did an ISO post for Spanish Cedar, and Mark Twain came though with some scraps he had left over from a project.
I had a friend take them and make two slide out shelves by using a biscut joiner and glue. Yes, not necessary, but does make cooler tetris much easier.

I call dibs on the Fuente drawer!!! :whistling: :D

You should see my other coolerdor Jay. I didn't post it now that my wife is a member. :whistling:

Hey John,

I was at Costco last night, however they didn't have any coolers in stock. I'll have to wait until Spring, unless they get some in early. Walmart selling seconds makes complete sense. I got lucky with the previous coolered I ordered online from Walmart, but then again, it's a lot smaller.

Smart man! My wife looked in my cabinet for the first time the other night and had a fit on me. So I went out and placed an order for more cigars!

That'll show her who's boss! :D

Yes, I think it is a deal because the shipping cost is only $0.97.

I didn't do anything to improve the seal as I feel it is quite good, but of course, I have to keep watching
the humidity in the next two weeks.

So far, I have put about 20 boxes in it and I think it can fit at least 10 more boxes without playing Tetris.

I got mine at Costco .. in Alaska no less .. and it works great! Jim was my inspiration. I'm not sure if he ever posted picks of his, but it was a pretty neat setup. And I agree, there is no real need to add spanish cedar as the boxes will take care of that.

Good hunting Rod!
