Anyone good at remodeling?

I just sent a PM, but for anyone else interested, what do you think of this idea?

I had mentioned building a humi into the office wall, which would stick out into the storage under the stairs. Instead of trying to actually build a humi from scratch, how about buying the one you like (it would have to be a front opening model), then framing out an opening in the wall with a shelf for the humi to sit on. Then just throw some trim around the edges of the drywall/humi and you're set!

$2100....for how many windows? I mean, a regular (DP-30) window single hung w/ no grids is only like, $100 (for a 3052 size or so). Depending on what all needs to be done I guess, but that just sounded high to me.

I think that included the window, plus all the excavating and work needed to install it. The current windows are quite small, and so block would need to be removed etc.

Yup, $2100 to come in, dig the hole, remove the old window, increase the size of the hole in the foundation, frame the opening, install the window and the window well. All within 7 hours.

Window/frame/well are included in the price.

I personally like the engineered hardwood floors, which are only a couple dollars more per square foot than Pergo, and I think they look much nicer.

I agree. I had Bruce engineered hardwood put down this summer when my crapper backed up and flooded the house. We upgraded from the carpet the insurance company was willing to pay for and payed a little more for it. It was well worth it and if you can do it I would.

Edit: Opppps, should have read the whole thread.

Here it is! Im not the best at taking pics.

The original basement has burber carpet, tounge and groove wood paneling on the walls, original basement window, suspended ceiling blocks... and all white and very boring.

We sheetrocked the walls, installed a glass block window, tore out the ceiling, sheetrocked, added 6 dimmer cans, 2 dimmer eyeballs, with a knockdown ceiling. Added an alcove for a gas stove...and added wood trim and a bifold door.

My landscaping project from last fall is there to. Let me know what you guys think.

The living room looks very nice ... good job.

I really like that stand you have for your records. Gives me good ideas for a large collection that I need to find room for.

That's nothing. Ill show you the real stand that I have them in...a friend built it, and you will soon want to do the same!!!

Wait a second, you were talking about the wood one, not the white one in the closet. Nevermind...

That wood one is pretty sweet, I can give you better pics of it if you wanna construct one.
