Anybody watching the BASS Master Classic?

So I've been in Shreveport since Sunday working on the Production crew of the Bass Master Classic as an associate producer. We've all been busting our ass putting this thing together working mostly 10-14 hour days and the question was posed yesterday "does anybody actually watch this anymore?" Though I don't traditionally watch fishing programs (they do seem to mesmerize me when I change it to the channel) I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the way this show is coming together. We've got the Zach Brown band out here today and all the Anglers will be in for the weigh in around 4. Though this show is extremely labor intensive with long hours I have to say that its a really fun one to go on with a great final product. So if anyone is interested in taking a peak at it, today is day 2 of weigh in's and tomorrow is the final day to catch it.

I used to be a member of B.A.S.S. but that was many, many years ago and I haven't watched the Classic in about as many years. Bucket mouths don't like the weather up here so I have to "suffer" with trout, salmon, halibut, etc.

I do not fish and I am not an outdoorsy kind of guy but there is a guy on there that I knew when I was a kid in grade school who is in the event so I have been keeping an eye out for it.

His name is Dave Wolak. I have not seen him in years but he was always a cool guy.

I caught a little of it this morning. I enjoy watching fishing on TV. It's cool that you helped put it together. It was cool how the boats had to wait in that holding area and then the gate opens after the water lowers, or something like that was going on, it looked interesting.

Yeah, its a lock system that they have on the Red River and it actually kind of screws the guys up a bit, one of the anglers got stuck in one of the locks today because a storm front came through.

You freshwater guys fishing for bait and calling it a sport.......gimme a 50lb Striped Bass or a 100lb Yellow fin, everything else is just pretend fishin'...... :whistling:

I'm a bass addict myself.

I watch it every year and I am a lonely Northern MN bass fisherman. Bass was all I ever fished for until I came up here, an it's still the fish I like to target the most.

I also watch the weekly coverage during the season (on DVR as I'm usually busy or on the lake on Sat. mornings) and a lot of the other fishing shows. Until I met Jorge Padron last year, the number 2 "famous person" meeting thrill of my life was meeting Bill Dance.

That's funny, I too met Jorge Padron recently and when I was a kid I met Jimmy Houston and thought it was the coolest thing.

Until you have had a 50wide smoked down to the backing you really ain't fished yet....lol


Edit: I bet the biggest fish of the tournament would make a good live bait on a gamakatsu 10/0 circle hook for a cow bass until the saltwater got to it....lmao
