Howdy all, greetings from Hong Kong!
Have been smoking for about 2 years - looking for cigars that are "creamy" and smooth, but also strong enough to give me a buzz. So far, vintage Cohiba (Siglo VI, Esplendido) do the trick. It's said the real test of a good smoke is whether you want to smoke the final third. Never had a problem with Cohibas, smoke them to the very end. Downside is they also happen to be very expensive out here..... (talking retail price US$50 a stick for Esplendido) which is why I'm looking for something similar (robusto size is fine, don't have time to do Churchills regularly!) that can serve as more of an everyday smoke.
Hoyo du Gourmet is grassy and smooth but very light. Ditto Quai D'Orsay. I find Montecristo very woody and takes effort for me to finish.....
Any recommendations from folks here? I have read that vintage (varnished) Partagas 898 is chocolaty (but harsh - i.e. don't smoke new 898s unless you enjoy really spicy earth flavors), haven't tried Upmann but read that it's like a milder version of Cohiba. Thoughts and suggestions welcome!
