I was hoping anyone out there would have some tips about the closet humidor I am building in my house. I have raised the closet off the cement floor and lined all the walls and floor with plastic vapor barrier and covered it with African mahogany. I have used Spanish cedar to frame in the unit as well as cover all the gaps in the panels. I used a silicone caulk to fill in those gaps before i screwed the trim in place. I angled the shelves and cut two inch slates to use as the bottoms of the shelves. This is as far as i have gotten. I plane on using a piece of tempered glass framed out in Spanish cedar for the door. I also bought one of those cheap foam gasket seals for the door. I don't want any light in the humidor and the glass will be tinted to keep out any natural light. I bought a hydra humidifying system to kept everything perfect. I have made a small shelf on top of the humidor to hold it. I am a little confused as to where to place the fans that go with it. I want to stack boxes on the bottom of the unit with cedar spacers so the fans don't make much sense to go down there. I'm thinking on the side but i don't know how high up. The total unit is 3 x 3x 6. Any input or advice I would love to hear it even if its something I should have done. Thank you in advance.

Say iceman,

Sounds like your cabinet is really coming together.

Here is an idea I'm going to use when I build my own...

The back wall of the cabinet is a great place to mount the fans.
One at the bottom, on the right or left, pointing up. The other one
at the top, on the opposite side of the bottom fan, pointing down.

You will need to leave an air circulation channel at the back of the
cabinet to do this but, you will get complete air circulation this way.

Just a thought...

Someone else on here was building a closet humidor, try doing a search to see if you can find any good tips.

Otherwise, I think kiltlad has some good advice

I have another question about my humidor. Does anyone know were you can get quarter round molding in any spices of wood that would be suitable for the inside of the humidor. I can make suitable molding but it would get a little expensive. It doesn't need to be Spanish cedar either because I think there is enough in there with all the shelves. Thank you in advance.

Check these out and tell me if there is something i am missing besides the door. I am still looking for suitable wood for the corners of the humidor. Hopping someone can help.

Try a mahogany.

place the fans in the humi, where you think you want them, then blow smoke in, and see how the smoke travels.
