Antique Collection Stagg, Van Wilnkle, etc

Judas H Priest....at the prices for Eagle Rare 17 and Sazerac 18, I'll freaking switch to Tito's vodka and retire early.

It is obscene that in less than 7 years something has gone up in price over 1000%.  I could have Warren Buffet's money and I would not pay that price.

10/30 – Pappy Van Winkle hit shelves in North Carolina and Southern Illinois today

Some dude on Craigslist Denver has a bottle of 15 and 23, he's asking $600.00 and $2,000.00.

Gents sorry for not updating but here is the latest:

Pappy:

11/1 – Texas and Indiana

11/3 - South Carolina

11/4 – Pappy in Kentucky, Arkansas and Kansas
11/5 - East Tennessee and Arizona

BTAC:
10/28 – Virginia
10/31 – Texas
11/1 – Wyoming

11/3 – South Carolina

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of Stagg on Saturday. He got it a rather unconventional manner, but I got one. Last two years nothing and this year BINGO! I would post a photo, but I can't get the tool bar to work with this browser. I am going to try and load another browser.

I couldn't find any in Charleston or the surrounding areas.  It was all going to restaurants or already spoken for from their most loyal buyers.

Been out chasing for a couple days, these all added to the collection, unfortunately no bottles to go around, come visit and we can have a few fingers........waited in line for about 8 hours yesterday for 2 of the bottles, didn't buy 23 because I actually want drinkable bourbon   .

Also, taking up lamp making in my spare time.....

Nice haul gentlemen and very nice lamp too. I was gifted a bottle of 12 YR Lot B Pappy last week and bought another one the other day from a private sale but no BATC yet. I've been told that the BATC should be arriving any day now so let's see.

Update:

Pappy

11/6 – Washington DC
11/7 – Delaware

I just got my allotment.  Not bad.  Bear in mind I have frequented the same store for the last 10yrs and buy a considerable amount of wine and hooch from them.

There is a 2 bottle limit on these releases.  I ended up with (2) GTS, (2), ER17, (1) ORV 10.  I also picked up (2) EH Taylor Small Batch.   Buying in a controlled state we get everything for MSRP and I was suprised to see the MSRP on the BTAC's jump from $55 to $80 from last year to this.  The store manager was saying that they were getting many many more calls this year than last and any unallocated bottles disappeared within @ 90min of their arrival. In fact, they had 2 bottles of Saz 18 and WLW held for me as well and they somehow ended up leaving with other customers.

Given the craziness I am just happy I was able to get what I did.

Pappy:

11/10 – Rhode Island and Michigan has Pappy.
11/11 - NH and Ohio (small allocation mostly to restaurants.

BTAC
11/11 - NH & Ohio

Very nice pick up Gregg. I was able to pick up two bottles of Thomas Handy from my local store but really wanted the William L. Weller and Sazerac 18. The lady from the NH liquor store called me and said "we got the BTAC shipment last night and don't know how long they will last". I got dressed and made it down in 10 minutes and there was a line already.

Anyways, if anyone wants to trade some of this years BTAC Sazerac 18 or William L. Weller for this years Thomas H. Handy - let me know.

I have a set of BTAC from 2006 onward....until this year.

I didn't find anything either.  It's gotten completely out of hand.

Talked to some folks with Republic National Distributors who handle the distribution for Buffalo Trace in Kentucky and Indiana today.  They say some people this year have been downright crazy.  They have had to hire escorts (the police kind) in some cases as people have been parking at their facility and then tailing trucks as they left.  Some go so far as to cut drivers off just to ask them if they are delivering any Pappy, apparently have been a couple of fender benders as a result.

Damn, I got nosey and looked at Craigslist, this is what one listing stated:

I have one bottle of the extremely rare and collectible Pappy Van Winkle 23 year, asking $1600
I have one bottle of the extremely rare and collectible Pappy Van Winkle 15 year, asking $700

Holy shit.  Guess I need to see if I can find any here.

Pappy 23 can bring that much just not this years version.  I sold my 1st edition 1998, Lawrenceburg  in the light green bottle with gold wax top (1 of only 900 bottles) Pappy 23 for a king's ransom 3 months ago.  The guy had been after me for years and finally made a rediculous offer I couldn't turn down.

I haven't seen or smelled any Pappy or BATC at all this year in TX. Even Craigslist only showed a couple of bottles. Pretty sad, but I'm not going to pay what the gougers want anyway. I'll keep hunting.

Well, I am trying a new diet based on blood type, and according to my blood type corn is bad and so is distilled liquor. So, I will use this as a basis for just giving up on bourbon. Hell, since I can't get it, its really sleeves off my vest.

At least there is always rye and malt whiskey.

Dream haul, I had to scratch scrape and claw to get the one I ended up with.
