I'm going to throw something out there that is earth-shattering, to say the least. Maybe, just maybe, it was a bad cigar. :0 I know, I know, it is just too difficult to comprehend that Fuente would make a bad cigar. They never rush the hands of time remember? But, maybe the cigar was a "dud."
This is all in jest, there are a number of reasons why it could've sucked, including the fact that it was just a shitty cigar. Try another one sometime and see if it changes your mind. If you get two bad ones, then it probably isn't a cigar for you.
Agreed -- ANY hand made product can suck horribly. I've had Cubans that made me want to vomit, from marcas that I generally like. It happens.
There's really no way they could "test" every cigar beyond visuals and construction before it leaves the factory.
As I said before, it may very well be that he just does not like this cigar... and that's personal taste for ya. But the taste profile he posted just doesn't sound like it's in the right zone for an Añejo. Either a dud from Fuente, or it was stored poorly prior to him receiving it, would be my guess.
