Amanda Beard and PETA

Anti-PETA bumper sticker seen locally:

"If we're not supposed to eat animals, why'd them make them out of meat..??"

MMMMMM.....Good steaks come from happy cows.......happy cows come from California.....!
Well maybe in California, but everywhere else they come from steers, flatlander.

Doc.

Either their grammar or yours needs some fixin', but a damn good sticker all the same. :sign:

I figured they were just doing the equivalent of flying the flag upside down with the ad.

Well, you know, nearly every Canadian remembers when the color guard flew our flag upside-down at the World Series. (And I mean, come on guys, it's got a leaf on it). What I mean to say is that protocol blips happen, and more often than you'd think.

My ex once answered a PETA canvasser's question as to whether she loved animals with "Yes, I eat them and wear them whenever I can." And that is just about the best answer to the whole thing.

Penn & Teller did a whole episode of Bullsh!t on PETA in their second season. This gaggle of clueless hippies is hypocritical at best-- they vehemently oppose any animal based products for medical uses, even though their own Vice President is a Type II diabetic and requires insulin shots to live... insulin shots that use animal products. She doesn't think it's hypocritical though because it's HER life. Forget anyone else, but it's okay for her. PETA is evil at their worst-- they support the Animal Liberation Front, an organization that freely brags about committing arson, vandalism and outright acts of terrorism.

So when I see another vacuous celebrity like Amanda Beard or Pamela Anderson promoting PETA, I add them to my ever-growing list of entertainment industry mouthbreathers I boycott.

Rant off.

How do you hang our flag? linky

How they have it hanging in her photo - linky.

I don't care about the politics behind the ad...at least show some respect.

Am I wrong in how the flag should be hung?

Seems like there's at least one example in the first link that conforms to the way the ad has it displayed. Just saying...

I eat meat, and lots of it, and I don't pay much attention to PETA, but I also don't think a flag is much more than a symbol. Symbols are *extremely* subjective.

If we want to get in an uproar about violations of the flag code, we should boycott anybody who wears a flag on their t-shirt, jeans pocket, etc. And boycott any company that uses the flag in their advertising logo, etc. There's violations of the flag code everywhere...

"The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use. Advertising signs should not be attached to the staff or halyard.

The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform, except that a flag patch may be used on the uniform of military personnel, fireman, policeman and members of patriotic organizations."

Etc.

Well, I think that they should say it - I disagree with them, but there's nothing wrong with them saying so. It's just not an especially convincing argument.

And Amanda Beard is easy on the eyes - of course, she's not nearly as comfortable "in her own skin" as Laure Manaudou ;)

What?

It shouldn't really surprise anyone that an organization as self serving as PETA would not take the time to care how they display the American flag. If they did take the time they would probably do it wrong just as a statement against the big bad US of A.
