I considered getting a 12 bottle Vinotemp, but they are pretty small. That being said, if you really don't plan on buying many boxes (just about everybody that says they don't plan on it, eventually do, myself included) it might be a perfect size for you. I bought the 21 bottle, one because it was cheaper, and two to kind of put a cap on my spending. Once it is full I (for the time being :whistling: ) have told myself that's when I'll stop buying and enjoy what I have. Granted, this is what I say now, and pretty much know that a coolidor is inevitable. The 12 bottle vinotemp will do the same thing a 21 and 28 bottle will, it'll just give you much less space.

You mentioned your 21 was around $250 shipped, correct? At $70 for a 12, I think I can get by with that and my 50 ct. I'm over $1k deep in the past week, and have about another $500 to spend before I'm going to stick to trades and exceptional deals, so, if this gets me by for the next 6-12 months, I'm ok with that. I can always turn it back into a wine fridge when the time comes, as I'll be due for re-stocking anyway.

Based on your estimations, what kind of stick count will I be able to get in that 12 bottle?

Oh, lastly, storage in the box, or out of the box? That feels like such a newb question, but I've never had more than a box or two at a time, and I always took them out and made my desk humidor look pretty....

northern, I'm ok with the eventual regret...I've always wanted a good wine fridge, I lost a few good bottles of a 98 Bordeaux to bad storage, so getting a bigger vino in the future is ok.

Yes, I want to say I paid around $239 shipped for the 21 bottle. A lot of the guys around here got the 28 bottle when Target was getting rid of them and paid anywhere between $100-149 for theirs. To my knowledge the 28 bottle is nearly impossible to find for less than $300-350 shipped. Unless you are lucky enough to be able to purchase them from Vinotemp when they run specials on them (last month they were selling them for I think $200 shipped.) The boxes that cigars come in are not airtight, which means you can store the cigars in the boxes without having to worry about a thing. Some people leave their boxes cracked to allow circulation, but I have my boxes closed and I guess I will soon find out if it causes a problem. My train of thought is that B&M's store the boxes closed in their walk in humi's so why can't I store them closed as well. If the 12 bottle fits your budget, and you know that you'll be upgrading in the future and are not worried about it then I say why not? My ESTIMATE on storage capabilities in the 12 bottle would be anywhere from 6-10 boxes depending on the size of the box. The biggest thing you have to take into consideration is that most boxes are different shapes and sizes so you wont simply be able to stack them on top of each other. You'll have to master the art of box tetris to maximize the space in the vinotemp.

I live in a 636 sq/ft 1bdrm apartment with my fiancee and have a 48qt coolerdor in the bedroom.

Wow, that Target buy is a DEAL!!! I was going to spend 110 on a nice glass top like the Palermo at CigarSwag, but I have a decent 50 count that is just fine for singles, I'd like to have somewhere safe to stash the boxes to age, and maybe one shelf on the top for a tray of singles. 6-10 is PLENTY of space for me. At least for now ???

Is it standard that everyone stays with Vinotemp brand?

Physical space isn't an issue, its more that I need to control my spending on this, and the 12 bottle will be more than enough....

A shelf on the top for singles would obviously cut down on your storage space for boxes so keep that in mind. Unfortunately with Wine Coolers you can't just put the shelf wherever you want, you are kind of limited by the slots that are in them. Others use brands that are different from the Vinotemp name, but as long as it is thermoelectric you should be safe. Vinotemp is the most common brand because they are thermo and usually the on the cheaper side of the various brands.

That's what I said too when I started here at CP a little over a year ago with a dozen cigars to my name....

Now........ :whistling: And I have 3 more boxes on the way.

I'm in deep trouble... I can only foresee me having a collection like that after a year or so ??? , might as well let wife slap me now... :whistling:

WOW Jake. Nice stash. I love the tupperware container full of Opus....Feel free to bomb ;D

Is that thing an old soda cooler?? Very nice setup, and sweet collection. Thats EXACTLY what I'm trying to prevent. I've been on CP for a week, and have gone from 35 cigars to nearly 150 thanks to some BOTLs. Poor Harley isn't getting new pipes or a computer.... :(
