A New Hope Pass

Guys, sorry for being terrible here. I went through the whole listing again, please verify the online list is now correct.

Thanks for the third time...

Brian

Also, moving forward please add your P/T's in this format:

T: #xx XXXXXXX, P: #xx XXXXXXX

to keep the numbering system in tact.

Thanks.

Here you go, might as well start it now. :)

T: 53. AF 858 SG, P: 58. Ashton VSG Enchantment

T: 53. AF 858 SG, P: 58. Ashton VSG Enchantment - GOOD

T: 35. Opus X Double Corona, P: 60. Padron 1926 #9 Natural - GOOD

T: 3. Casa Fuente Corona Gorda, P: 61. Ashton ESG 22yr Salute - I don't feel this meets the rarity value. My local B&M has the 22yr (great smoke and MSRP are =), but no for rarity.

For the BBMF.....Linky The set can only be purchased there, and when it was purchased the exchange rate was 1.39 pounds to $. The set was $280 shipped to me, so I paid $70 a stick.

I figured a $4.50 greater MSRP would makeup for the difference in rarity for the casa fuente. ???

If the ESG doesn't work, I can put in a Padron 40th Maduro.

Ok with the BBMF Royal 8 deal, still a bit iffy on the Casa Fuente. Even though you blow the price out of the water with MSRP, rarity is still not being matched. Again, my local B&M has these. Not trying to be a stickler here, just fair.

Those all seem pretty reasonable. I don't think Casa Fuente rarity is much beyond the ESG, they are just more concentrated. They are always available at a single location for the same price, rain or shine.

1 location 2500 miles away from me vs. multiple locations as close as 5 miles from me.

I like the Padron 40th better than the ESG, however I still do not think any of them compare to the rarity.

I've talked to quite a few brothers with a lot of pass experience here, and they all felt both trades for the CF were more than adequate. Truly, the CF's aren't that rare...as they can be had year round. A quick search will reveal that a lot less was put for the same cigar and approved by those with a lot more pass experience. However, the CF isn't a gem worth this much headache. It's y'alls pass, so I'll kindly remove the P/T without a fuss and I'm revising my P/T's. This is the final list, all of which were approved.

The Casa Fuente is a hard to get to and there for is held as a hard to find, you met the MSRP's with no problem at all, that wasnt the issue. This is not meant to be a headache, but more of a learning tool for all of us. Especially me. I have also talked with a few members here who think the 11 for 59 and 25 for 60 don't match. Im a bit leary on the 59 as it is, just because I have never heard of the source and also very few people here have (I am not by any means doubting the authenticity of the BBMF, just the rarity and source). And although the Padron is a fantastic smoke, you cannot find one single B&M that has both and the DC and Padron and the DC is not 2x as much in price (figurativly speaking). So although I did already approve the above P/T's, I will give you the chance to modify them if you choose, otherwise, we move forward.

Please don't get discouraged by this, that is not the point of this. If anyone else feels they have something to say here please do.

Thanks,
Brian

That's your call, it's your pass. I don't see how anyone could believe that a Padrón No.9 can't be put for an Opus X DC... the Padrón is more expensive ($17.50 vs. $15.00 @ MSRP), and the rarity of the Opus X DC is not that high.

As for the Casa Fuente, that's a judgement call... if it were my pass, I'd be fine with it... but it's not my pass... and I go to Las Vegas fairly often, so picking up more is no big deal to me.

This is what he means by the JJ FFOX BBMF

My local shop in New York has Opus X DCs in stock... currently they have no Padrón 1926 No.9s in stock, but when they do, the Padrón is more expensive than the Opus X DC.

Excellent input, thank you very much for that. I have no doubts about the BBMF anymore. A point has been made in every instance here. The Casa im still going to say I would rather something with a bit more rarity. The Padron for Opus is a thumbs up.

Moki, thank you very much for clearing things up.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm moving upstate.

You don't want to... NYS prices for both.

All things considered, I suppose the only one I truly see any issue with is the 858 SG. IMO, high rarity can't be bought. You simply just can't find 858 SG's. If you can, please PM me and I love you long time. Anyway, slight rarity can be counter-balanced by $ and I don't really have an issue with that. But high rarity is anothe case.

Anyway:

T: 53. AF 858 SG, P: 58. Ashton VSG Enchantment - Definite no for amentioned reason.

T: 11. FFOX Black Band Royal 8 Tube (Cigar in a Bottle cigar), P: 59. JJFOX 2005 BBMF from Box 24/50 - Good.

T: 35. Opus X Double Corona, P: 60. Padron 1926 #9 Natural - "Meh." I think there is a slight rarity factore to Opus X DC, but nothing incredibly substantial. An "either way" trade, depending on host.

T: 3. Casa Fuente Corona Gorda, P: 61. Ashton ESG 22yr Salute - "Meh". Pretty much a wash. CF's are about equal to Opus in my eyes. The ESG isn't incredibly available at MSRP, Opus aren't either, but CF's are readibly available in any quantity you want - you just have to have someone pick it up for you. You can buy 5 boxes of CF's if you so wish.

P: 62 Avo 787 Perfecto - Not a fan of the AVO profile, but obviously generous.

Just my $0.02
