some historical amusing Cuban cigar facts….Many years ago, in the late 1960’s & 1970’s, when thousands of of small local cigars stores went out of business. I and a couple friends put together a group to purchase cigars from the ongoing auctions of the many cigar stores closing in NY and NJ. We made a vast number of great buys and some lousy ones. Some cigar boxes when opened were just tobacco dust, from bad storage and beetle.
But..to the point….a majority of the cigars we purchased were made in Tampa and New Jersey…both licensed by Cuba to manufacture CUBAN tobacco cigars in the US…we even purchased old man Fuente cigars and White Owl Cuban tobacco cigars…
so, there once was a time when most Cuban cigars were made in the good old USA. And they weren’t FAKES
And Bill thinks that cigars from Spain are fake…What a mistake….let’s understand that Spain was the de facto government of Cuba for a couple of centuries. And until recently they purchased 30% of Cuba’s cigar production by Altadis. ( IMPERIAL TOBACCO COMPANY)
