1st cigar ever.

When I get a new smoker in the shop I find out if they smoke cigarettes or not and if they have ever smoked a cigar before. The non smokers I start off with (let the lashing begin) Macanudo, Cuesta Rey Nat., Fuente Nat., La Unica, Ashton, R&J , all Naturals. This will give them a idea of a nice cigar and can go to some of the more advance cigar's to try after they get their feet wet with what I have started them on. I have always had them come back with a good experience which is what I have intended all along. They will usually get the feel on off they go on the road to a good smoke.

Picking a cigar is overwhelming!

Very true, Every time I visit a shop I have a pretty good idea of what I want beofre I go in. Then I get in there and can't make up my mind anymore. Then I end up spending far more money than I had originally planned on spending. Like a kid in a candy store.

I agree with the Monte Cristo White. I think they are too bland, but they would be a good first cigar. Also, Aroma de Cuba, Fuente (the ones without the cedar wrapping and with the green label seem to me milder than the ones with the cedar or the SG black labels). What about a Macanudo Hyde Park? I think the Padron 2000 might be a bit much, but I dont really care for the Padrons (shoot me now).

LFD Double Ligero Chisel Maduro, smooth, consistent, well made, great smoke! Also, as an alternative try one of the Opus X Power Rangers. Small but good.
BTW, inhaling helps get the full effect of these smokes. ;) Really though, don't listen to me, smoke what those guys said.
