    What's Your Latest Purchase 2025

New small humidor for dry boxing. Probably does not need two Boveda packs, but since this humidor will be opened frequently, I figured doubling up on the Boveda packs would help keep it stable.

HC Series cigars - I like ‘em

Oh, boy! Those are certainly in the right price-point. And I’ve never been disappointed in any Olivia. And the Toasty Jones has gotten a lot of attention. Maybe next time, I’ll expand my horizons a bit and try something else. I’m very much a creature of habit, and I’ve just been reloading the...

    Dry Boxing

I never have, either, but that was because I never heard of it. 😂 I’m expecting it to be life-changing, though, based on the experiences posted in this thread. Worst case is I wasted a little money on an inexpensive humidor and some Boveda packs I didn’t need. Couldn’t hurt, and I’ll probably...

HC Series cigars - I like ‘em

My search fu is probably weak, but I could not find much mention of these on the forum. I don’t smoke often enough to buy “yard ‘gars”, and I don’t smoke while doing chores or driving, it’s a sit-down-and-enjoy-the-experience thing for me. And I don’t smoke enough to need to stock really...

30% off at CI Code LOCO30

After reading the excellent dry boxing humidor thread I started shopping for a small humidor, and stumbled upon this spring special. Got a humidor, some Boveda packs and restocked 3 boxes of HC Series, Black Maduro, Connecticut, and Habano Colorado, all between $3.15 and $4.50 per stick with the...

    Dry Boxing

Wow! What a great thread! After my first disastrous and embarrassing post here, I’ve spent several days just digging around and the wealth of knowledge here is astounding. I’ve been smoking cigars for decades but never dove into “the hobby” and I had never heard of dry boxing before now. To be...

    Hammock sleeping

Seriously, though, on the topic of hammocks, I haven't camped in several years, but I gave up the tent, air mattress, and all that for a hammock about 10 years ago. I used one of those hammocks that roll up into a small pouch, strung between two trees. Run a paracord a couple of feet above it...

    Hammock sleeping

As a noob, Im just beginning to see how witty you guys are. This is hilarious! I have to say @Nihon_Ni is correct. Nude beaches are better in your mind or on TV than in real life. When in the AF I used to deploy to Greece regularly. On a day off at the beach, watching the topless Scandihoovian...

    Happy Thread

This will make me happy … tomorrow. Saturday weather, should hit 65* by 9:00 a.m., high of 80*, mostly sunny. I’m giving it a quick check and cleaning with Quick Detailer today …

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

I apologize to Tom. I'm sure CigarStone is very pretty. :) I will sit in sackcloth and ashes for one week before posting again. Seriously, the information has been helpful, the eating crow post was designed to show some humility.

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

This post was an apology, it’s why I posted it, I’m not going to name everyone I. The post. Now you’re just being petty.

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

Wineador now stable at 61F and 69RH. Humidor still seasoning a little bit, dampened paper towel in the bottom. Will run that with two 69 Boveda packs when stable.

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

I used to get them straight from the wineador in the basement and smoke them. Someone mentioned here letting cigars "calm down". I brought up an old desktop humidor from downstairs and seasoned it. I will move some sticks from the basement to the humidor on ground level a couple weeks before...

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

Well ... I hate doing this, but it happens from time to time. Apparently relative is more important than the volume of water in cigar storage. I kept researching and found an article from JR cigar that helped me understand nothing bad would happen to my cigars stored at 60-62F, but keep the...

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

There is quite a bit of information on the Internet regarding changing if RH with temperature, actually, now that I’ve gone down this rabbit hole. Since I preferred 65% to begin with at 70F, I’ll stop at 75% at 60F, some of those chart numbers seem way too high. I also think it’s better to err...

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

And And You are all arguing the wrong direction. There's a pattern evolving here. The first one shows ridiculously high RH, IMO. But these all go the way I, and that video, are arguing.

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

I'm sorry. Not trying to be argumentative. But you need to watch that video. You really do. This comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's not "one man's opinion" and it's not YMMV. The physical amount of moisture in the stick at 60F is a measurable amount of moisture. The stick is not...

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

Ah, here you go. Because I prefer 65% at 70F, I'll go with 75% in the basement wineador.

Question on storing cigars in cooler temperatures

    A) Thank you to @BlindedByScience for helping me understand storing at a stable 60F won't hurt the cigars. B) The rest of you (forgive me for being so blunt as a new member) simply do not understand the concept of RELATIVE humidity. As an accomplished cook, I understand the effects of moisture...
