    Recent Purchases

Just went to a beer tasting (Summit Brewery) at the local shop and walked out with a bottle of Ommegang Adoration. Probably won't get to it until Sunday.

    CigarCyclopedia Going on Hiatus

Sorry to be resurrecting a dead topic, but I was just trying to find some values and remembered the site only to find it defunct. Did anything ever pop up to fill the void?

Good Islay story in the NYT

Lots of great imagery there. It's interesting that Laphroaig 10 was their #1 bottle, being the least expensive and easiest to find of the bunch. It's not my favorite Islay, but it's right up there, and on a value scale it pretty much can't be beat.

    Who's braving the cold?

It's been in the teens after work around here, so smoking is either very small cigars or done while driving.

    Padron go to cigar

Basically, they're all good, so it comes down to size, time and budget preferences. I like the 2000 for a 30 (if I'm in a rush) to 60 (if I take it real slow) minute inexpensive cigar, or the 6000 for a 60 minute plus, mid-priced smoke. I avoid many of the other cigars because I don't generally...

    Today's Smoke II

Opus PL that I had stored sans cello for some reason that was trying to get moldy in my overflow tupperdor. Wiped it clean, then cleaned the tupperdor, then adjusted the beads, then smoked the little firecracker! Delicious.

    Acid Reflux?

And here I thought we were talking about some fancy new flavored cigar.

    Padron go to cigar

It's the 2000 or 6000 Maduros for me.

    Today's Smoke II

Last night I smoked a Cruzado while watching the lighted Christmas parade in the snow. It was a nice smoke, medium, but nice and spicy. I couldn't do an exhale through the nose because it was too spicy, and the cigar's got at least a couple of years on it. Pretty tasty though, until it got too...

What beer did you drink today?

The owner of our local steakhouse, who knows I like to drink all kinds of different beers, gave me a bottle to try the night he got his first shipment in. I didn't really like it - to me it was very weak and generic, and horribly over-carbonated. I only had the one bottle, and it was at the end...

What beer did you drink today?

Drinking a Summit Unchained Batch 08 Black IPA tonight. Quite nice, a bit of roastiness going on in the aroma, but flavor-wise it's pretty much a decent American IPA.

    Dog secretly works for PETA

Same here, except it's 2) find some pheasants. Between the icy winters, flooded springs, and grain prices, we're at an all time low.

    Dog secretly works for PETA

I guess the humans weren't shooting very straight that day? And the dog must have been bored with the lack of retrieving, so that's why he did it.

    Today's Smoke II

Esencia petite corona last night while hanging the wreath and garland. That was one spicy little cigar, pretty tasty, and didn't really turn bitter at all. Had a minor burn issue, but not too bad. The only problem with it is it left me with probably the worst cigar stink and breath of any cigar...

Yep. Been gone a while, I know. Going to try to be back around. You still here (Iowa), too?

    Today's Smoke II

A little bitty Oliva that I don't remember the name of, a Camacho triple maduro (pretty good) and a La Gloria Cubana Series R figurado (my second and I didn't like it any more than the first).

What beer did you drink today?

I tried the 2011 Schell Snowstorm tonight. Good flavors of toffee and chocolate, but a little too sugary-sweet and a bitter mineral, hard water kind of undertone. Not up to the standards set by the last few incarnations.
