Fun With Fractals

Been fiddling around with fractals a bit tonight. Each successive picture is a zoom in on the previous fractal. I've gotten down so small in the original fractal that it is taking over a half hour to render each one now.

What are you using to generate and color the fractals? The last time I messed with this stuff it was with Mathmatica and from what I hear, its come a long way.

Last I read, fractals were primarily being used to describe (cartographers and the like) the coast line and naturally appearing designs in nature (shells, plants, etc.). Anything new going on with fractals that spawned your interest?

I messed around with fractals years ago but it would literally take the computer 12-24 hours to render the images. The speed of today's computers makes it a bit more user friendly now.

I used Ultra Fractal to do the ones above. Pretty simple stuff now.
