Do you not mind the smoke smell in your vehicle or do you have a way of eliminating it? I can't stand the smell of stale smoke every morning when I get into my truck. I fabreeze DAILY!

I have seen those car lighter devices you can plug in, do they work?

Please advise! Much appreciated. And please don't say "The best way is to not smoke in your truck"...I can just see that now! :sign:

I actually use a car purifier that plugs into the lighter socket, not sure if it works, but I also drive with my windows down (I have a 2 hr commute each way to work) along the Atlantic Ocean so the wind from that and the sea smell kinda takes over (I live for it). Only advice is keep up the fabreeze and keep the windows open.

I smoke just about everytime I drive for more than a 1/2 hour, which is just about everytime i go somewhere from where i live and i have to tell you that either i don't notice it or it just doesen't bother me. It does bother some people that get in my truck but screw 'em it's my truck, right?

Is that 4 hours a day?! Holy Shit! How can you afford that with gas? I have a crew cab so I have all 4 windows down, the sunroof open, and the rear slider. So I get as much breeze coming through as I can without ripping off the roof. Which also causes an uneven burn. However as you know NY, winter is slowly creeping up, no more windows down!! I want to try one of those air purifiers. There is a lighter on the rear of my center console I can use. Gotthe radar in the front lighter.

Yeah - I smell it and don't like it, plus my wife gets inthe truck and all I hear is "You're gonna ruin this truck with that smell!" And she's right its a nice truck and I don't want it to smell - hence the post. However that is one way to keep her out of my truck!!!

You will never get the smell out of you car, no matter what you do. You may not smell it but a non smoker will.

You can disguise it but hey, you know what, if that's where some folks have to smoke, as you say, It's your truck so fugg em.

I chain smoke cigars on every roadtrip out of town. Set the A/C to vent instead of recirculate, crack the window nearest you to create suction, and most of the smoke will be pulled right out.

Charcoal, drier sheets, air purifiers . . . all that stuff works. But I figure, if I'm not smoking dog rockets in there, my truck may smell like cigars, but at least it smells like GOOD cigars. :D

I smoke with the sun roof open, and window cracked, then I leave the roof open and windows down in the garage when I park. I never notice the stale nasty smell, and I don't like that either.

I only seem to get complaints from the kids if I just finished one right before picking them up (I don't smoke with them in the car). I tell them they do have the option of walking home. Of course I would follow them to make sure they get home, but then I could light up another.

Thanks Keith - My truck is too big for my garage. So I can't "always" do that. I do it when I can.

I hope you don't live in a cold weather area. I would hate going through winter without my garage.

Remote Starter!

Pittsburgh and it just started to get cold this week.

Funny thing is that its a 2 car garage, my wifes car is fine, I would need to fold in both windows and lower my truck 3 inches. I have 20's on it, I could drop to 15 inch rims and maybe, just maybe it might fit...not worth it.

That right there is the best way to do it. You've gotta air it out. You can febreeze all day long, but just natural air and sun does best. ;)

Why would you recirculate the smoke through your AC system? Personally I set it to foot vent and with the windows down, the fresh air comes up from my feet.

Febreeze, windows down as much as possible, having the AC vent on your feet, and don't smoke in your vehicle EVERY day. Try every other day, or just Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Every day will does not all enough time to "air" out the vehicle. Also, get a convertible. ;)

Just saw you are from Rocky Top. I lived in the rabid football fan capitol of the world for about 5 years. Really there is no other football town like Knoxville, and I've lived all over.

How they treating Fulmer lately? Can't believe his head is not on a plate.

Keith

If you are willing to not smoke in your truck, have it detailed and have the interior shampooed. That may get rid of 90% of the smell.

There's actually several threads on this question, do a search and you'll uncover even more smoke removing techniques. :)

A good way to eliminate the smell of smoke is to get some cheese cloth and fill it with coffee beans. Toss it under your seat, and it will help eat up the smell.

I live a little south of Knoxville. Actually it's closer to Chattanooga. But there's a fair few (including me) calling for blood. I said it last year. Fire Fat Phil!

Rod, have you ever tired this, or has anyone here? I have heard that before, but I have never tired it.

I've used this technique in coolers (not coolidors) if the lid has been left closed and it smells kinda funny. Works well for that.

I would assume it may work well under the seat in a vehicle.

Would baking soda work too? Or not powerful enough?

Bill

Thanks Rod. Maybe I'll give that a try...
